Sorry to hear you had the flu, nasty thing has been around my house too. Yea I worked while in the program but I only worked weekends. When my clinical required longer hours while doing Med/Surg at the hospital I went to 1 day a week. I worked as a housekeeper at a local hotel. Tomorrow I have an interview with a nursing home and hope to continue there untill Im done with school, if I get hired. Kinda nervous since it would be my first job as an LPN, but Im also excited!

This is a private duty nurse position offered by a local hospital. Well I had my interview and decided I don't want to take the job. Pay wasn't that great and I would have to travel with no mileage reimbursement. I hate to decline a job in this economy but I'll stick it out till I find something better.

Nice to meet ya too! I'm with you, I'm worried if I don't do RN right away I wouldn't go back, so fingers crossed I get in this fall but I wont know till June.

Yes, I plan on continuing to RN this fall. They do require you to get your LPN licnese before going on to RN. You can apply for the RN program right after geting your LPN license but you must have a 3.0 in Nur courses from LPN program to go directly in, but this doesn't guarantee a spot in RN program, they go by GPA of applicatnts. But if you work for a year as a LPN then apply for RN program you are chosen first over people who just finshed thier LPN program.

I have an interview with the hospital this week for a PD position. I just passed my Nclex-pn and this would be my first interview. I have to say this wasn't my intent when I put in my app, I was hoping for a floor position on med/sug. I have read over some of the posts and kind of have a sense what this job intails but I'll find out more this week. Anyhow, I was just wondering what are the most important things to consider when deciding about the job's benifts and expenses. Should I expect milage? If so,what is a good rate? Is the pay lower then floor nursing? The one thing I do know is that it is a per diem positon. I guess it is good since I can pick my own hours and be on call becasue im still in school and plan on gettign my RN but other then that i'm clueless about per diem. Any and all input would be helpfull. Thanks!

The book I used was Mosby's Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-PN 15th Ed. I went over the book trying to understand the reasoning behind the answers not just memorizing them. The book also comes with a cd that was pretty useful to help you get used to taking an exam on the computer. It can go up to 265 questions I believe. It also has an option for diffrent ways to quiz yourself. You can select the difficulty level which was nice too. I used Maslow and ABC's to ratioanlize some NCLEX questions. I also reviewd labs and most common medications shown on tv. Hope this helps.

First of all, I have to say this is the most wonderful site. There is so much support for people on here and it helps to let you know your not alone. For those of you still waiting on your results, I know it's a difficult time but stay positive and don't assume the worst. Give yourself some credit, you deserve it because you made it through the nursing program. I had 85 questions and I was out of there in less then an hour. Once I left the test center I felt like an idiot. I told myself I failed, there was no way I passed. I knew I got some wrong, many I had no idea what answer to pick, and others I couldn't pick between two answers, so how was I going to pass this with only 85 questions? I was in a depressed state for two days going over every question I could remember on the test and saying I know I didin't get enough right. Well come to find out today I did pass and thank god I never have to take that test again, well maybe next year for RN but I dont even want to think about that now, I just want to celebrate this moment. I hope all of you who are still waitinig to take the test or waiting for your results have the same outcome as me and I pray for you all.

Hi Mandy, I have just finished the LPN program at Alpena Community College last Dec. I don't know anything about the other school but I can tell you the instructors at ACC are awsome! The program is very competitive to get into, but it's worth it. If you have any questions i'd be more then happy to try to answer them.
