Im a new grad and at the end of my first interview I was asked "what is your favorite tv show?" is this a random question...what are they looking for here?
-
New Grad-Should I volunteer?
I have been applying for whatever. The worst they can say is no. on the Volunteering note.....I just talked to someone today who said to volunteer at the local free clinic. It will give you experience, something to do while we're waiting for a job, not to mention looks great on a resume!

is it pointless for me to pursue nursing?
who knows if anyone will read this, but I was just looking back at my threads, and I can't believe that i was the one who wrote this one! I am now a 3rd semester nursing student and LOVING every minute of it!! I still haven't done an actual foley on a male or female, but I think I will be okay! It's neat to look back and see how far I've come. So if any new nursing students are reading this because they're nervous too..take it from me.....your fears will pass and you will learn and grow not only as a nurse but as a person!

Second Semester jitters!!
After a whole summer of putting my nursing studies aside (probably should've been reading etc, right?) second semester is coming quick. I am so nervous, I have not kept up on anything over the summer. Am I the only one who did not spend the summer studying? Will this be a bad thing once school starts? I have heard that second semester there is no "coddling" as my instructor says and they expect you to get right in there. I am gonna have to pull a little confidence out of a hat I think!!! How bout the rest of you? have you been studying or taking the summer off???

I was told tomorrow afternoon. good luck!!!!

What changes did you make before you started NS?
I am hopeful that I will be starting nursing school in the spring. ~~and i hope i'm not jinxing myself by asking~~! I hope to find out in a couple of weeks, but until then I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for things (hopefully) to come. I have always been a stay at home Mom, and I'm just shuddering to think of how things are going to be because I will have less time to take care of things. So I'd like to ask all you NS Moms, what kind of changes did you implement so your household continued to run like a well oiled machine. ?? I think I would like to have a family meeting and lay down some kind of law so I'm not pulling my hair out trying to maintain school and a household. thanks!!

My thoughts on becoming a nursing student
I am a Spring 2011 hopeful, (crossing fingers) and I was thinking recently on how this journey for me is so similar to waiting in line for a roller coaster ride. I have this feeling, like I have been waiting in line for so long...full of anticipation and very excited to get on the ride. But now, I am getting closer and I can see the end of the line. it's almost time for me to get on the ride, and I'm starting to get anxious...holy cr@p, holy cr@p---am I really going to do this? can I handle the chaos of the ride? Very exciting and terrifying at the same time.!!!! Good thing I like roller coasters!!!!

Teas V scores and acceptance
I spoke w the proctor of the test and he said last semester people w 60's (probably high 60's) got letters but the avg scores were 71%....but talk around school is making me crazy~hearing people with scores in the mid to high 70's thinking they're not getting in! My hopes go up and down on a daily basis...can't stop thinking about it...GEEZ its gonna be the longest month EVAR!
-
Teas V scores and acceptance
I think my overall score is worthy of acceptance....it's considered "Advanced"...but my reading is only an 81%... I am really stressing this will affect me negatively. i am just really going to go crazy waiting.
-
Practice Teas Test
Do you really think they have access to those practice tests/or even look at them? I wonder...my friend did really well on a practice test for the TEAS V, but got nervous for the actual test and didn't do as well.
- Phi Theta Kappa - Haven't we all been invited?

Spring 2011 Hopefuls!!
Tleelove--great job!! I have been waitin to hear how you did, aren't you soo glad it's over? My friend got a 62.7...and I am soo hoping it is good enough to get her in somehow. now we just have about a month to wait

New TEAS V Science Section
another bit of advice for test takers... I thought some of the questions were a bit wordy, and worded differently than we're used to, so read them carefully. Also, It seemed to me like a lot of the science that i studied inside and out wasn't even on the test... I think I made some dumb mistakes in the English section because in my head i knew I was almost done, and I might've gone thru a bit too quickly. With Math as the exception, there's more than enough time for all, so take your time! I hope that helps. ps...I recommend studying hypotenuse and work rates!

TEAS V
Well, just got finished with my exam. (TEAS V) PHEW! that was intense! ((in my opinion)) my Adjusted Individual total score is a 78.7% the National mean is 63.6% the Program mean is 64.7% 88th percentile rank national 88th percentile rank program I'm pretty happy with those scores. Good Luck to all of you yet to take it.....it took everything I had!! and I'm sooo glad its over!!!
-
TEAS V
PAMQ...why do you think that's a bad score??? from everything I'm hearing/seeing, that is actually an awesome score!!! I heard the national mean is like 68% or something. I'm hoping for something similar ...imo~GREAT JOB ((which btw, I'm taking tomorrow...ugh...but I feel ready, so we'll see))
-
TEAS freakout...what are your test taking strategies?
THANK YOU !! that's terrific advice, and much appreciated! it is actually the timed part that sorta panics me, so knowing I can take my time and still have time to spare helps.
-
Who's taken the teas v?
from everything I've been hearing, that's a REALLY good score. I think it's better than average, isn't it? I am hoping I do that well!
-
TEAS freakout...what are your test taking strategies?
Okay, no, not really. I'm actually looking forward to getting my hands on this sucker and getting it done!! BUT, I am afraid when the time actually comes, I'm going to go blank. I am wondering what other people do to de-stress before and during the test? I've also heard people who eat a high carb meal beforehand. (???) I know when my kids take state tests, they are told to bring candy or gum. For me, chewing gum seems to help during a test. What do you do? I'm taking this test on Monday (9/20) and I wanna be 110%
