  1. Thanks so much for the advice! I think I am going to go with my gut and stick with CVICU! :):redbeathe
  2. I have worn a pants suit to all of my interviews. I think it's the best way to go. The Limited has some very nice ones and they aren't too expensive. They have traditional ones and short sleeve ones for spring/summer.
  3. I agree with you. I'm going to through the same thing. I decided it's best to look out for myself and accept both jobs. Don't risk it.
  4. That is really low. My school has a 100% NCLEX pass rate. I would go somewhere with atleast 95% pass rate.
  5. This is true and it is a big hospital. Anyone else have opinions?
  6. So I've been offered two jobs. One is a 3 month internship in the CVICU at one hospital. and the other is a 6 month internship that will put me through critical care for the first 3 months, then the last 3 I will be trained for cath lab. My problem is that I really want to do CVICU at the first hospital, but I keep hearing that doing a cath lab internship is a really sweet deal. Cath lab was not something that I even applied for, I just kind of fell into it. I just want to know, if you do a critical care internship and work in a cath lab, will I be qualified to move to CVICU after awhile? I know it usually goes the other way around...(ICU to cath lab). What do you think about this for a new grad? I'm just very unsure of what to do...I really want to start out on nights and I know I won't have that flexibility with cath lab. But then again cath lab has no weekends or holidays. Any input?? I'm open to any advice. -C
  7. It seems like it's a pretty common problem, so I'm a little surprised that there weren't more responses. I just wish my top choice hospital was not my last interview. That makes things tough because if I don't get that job I would be SOL if I didn't accept any previous offers. I'm thinking it is just one of those things that people do, but nobody wants to admit to it or talk about it. I'm sure it happens all of the time. People accept offers as a back up then the dream job comes around and they take it instead. Let me know what you decide to do stephanieensminger!
  8. Well, this isn't exactly true in nursing. That is the beauty. There are so many choices and paths to take.
  9. I'm just wondering, is it bad to accept all of the offers that you get, then when you decide at the end, just decline the ones you don't want? It's just kind of a tough decision as it is, and it doesn't help that the offers that I have received want to know THAT day or by the end of the week if you want to accept. This would be fine if I had gone on other interviews, but my other ones aren't until next month. They said that they will be interviewing other candidates for the spot if I don't accept. So, if you were in this situation, what would you do? Would you accept all of the offers, accept the ones you like the most, just take the chance and wait? It's just scary because what if I decline this offer and then I don't get anymore? Does this happen a lot? How do these potential employers handle it? Obviously I wouldn't tell them that I found something better, but I would just say that something came up and I will not be able to attend their internship program. Let me give you a little background: I have been offered one position that I am not completely sure about (not so much about the job, but the fact that it's 8 hour shifts), and I have 3 more interviews next month. My last interview is my top choice. I would hate to decline everything else and then not get this one. I'm just a little stressed and worried. If anyone has been in this situation or has advice for me I would be very happy! :bowingpur

  11. I realize that you typically need a critical care background to work in cath lab, but is cath lab itself actually critical care? It seems like you are dealing with the same concepts that you see in a cardiac ICU rather than anything else. Just wondering! I would love to know!
