  1. This is very surprising to me. I have experienced the complete opposite in Canada. Typically, you don't get anything in writing until your first day of work. When someone says "We want to offer you a job and we are writing up the detail", it sounds like a job offer. I am so stupid to think I had a job! I am good at nursing, but I seem to suck at business!
  2. I don't understand what just happened. After I interviewed, I was told by an HR person at Brigham and Women's they were going to offer me a job as an RN. So, I waited patiently and stayed in contact, but they seemed to be taking more time than usual and I couldn't understand why. Until today, the HR person called and said that they were no longer going to offer me the job. Is this common practice in the US? I think it was totally unprofessional and has caused me weeks of stress. How can the department say we are getting things together to offer you the job and the next minute change their mind? I am getting so frustrated with the job market here that I am ready to leave and go back to Canada. I am an experience nurse and I feel like my skills are being wasted! I even turned down another interview because I thought I had this job. How can they play with peoples lives like this! Anybody else have stories like this?
  3. Did you ever find a job? I am in the same boat as you. The job market is terrible here compared to Canada.
