  1. Hey ANPFNPGNP. I was so happy to read your post, even though it was from last year! I just got accepted in the ANP/GNP program for this fall. I am a non-nurse and really looking forward to it. I had a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer. Why did you go on to get a post-master's degree as an FNP. Did you find the job market as an ANP/GNP was not good? Also, how difficult was it to transfer your accredidation to TX? I'm from CA and want to come back here after school so I was curious as to how this process goes. I'm clueless. Any advice or info you could provide would be most helpful. Thanks!!
  2. No letter today but I did call Shelli. Unfortunately, I didn't get in That's too bad...definitely wanted to have UCLA as an option. Looks like I'm headed to Vanderbilt. Unless last minute I change my mind about leaving California and I get into CSULB. It would have been a very difficult decision anyway considering UCLA is not an NP program and Vanderbilt is and ultimately that's my goal. Let me know Heather if you decide to go to Vanderbilt. It'd be nice to sort of know someone there! By the way here are my stats so you guys can compare: GPA from USC 3.6 Prereq GPA 4.0 no medical experience. Good Luck! Hope you guys get better news.
  3. She was REALLY nice when I spoke with her yesterday. So, I would call if I were you since she might not be able to tell you if you got accepted or not over email. Either one though.
  4. I still haven't heard yet....still waiting for the mail to come today. It's late!! It was supposed to arrive at 1:30 and it's 3:30! I spoke to Shelli yesterday and she said I should hear by today since I'm in OC. The letters went to the mailroom end of day Friday. She said to call her if I still didn't hear anything today....so, music you may want to call her. She might even tell you over the phone! :) I'll let you know when I hear.
  5. Ultimately I want to be NP too. It could take anywhere from 15 months to two years to become an NP after the MECN program
  6. Congratulations! We should keep in touch in case we both decide to go to Vanderbilt. Where are you from? I'm in California, so it will be a big move for me. I definitely think UCLA is probably a better financial choice, but not an NP program so thats an issue. Are you coming in as a non-RN too?
  7. Oh wow! It's nice to find this blog online! I too applied to UCLA's MECN program and to Vanderbilt's ANP program. Just heard back from Vandy on Friday and got in! So surprised.....wasn't so sure I'd get in there since my GRE scores weren't very good. Can't wait to hear back from UCLA....I too got an email saying I should hear back the first week in March. I was wondering if anyone had an advice regarding choosing between the two school granted IF I get into UCLA. Obviously one is a MSN and the other a MSN/Nurse PRactitioner program, but I was wondering if one school was considered better than the other? Also, anyone know what type of grades they are looking for at UCLA? Just wondering if I even come close. Also- I too was SOOOO frustrated with the whole recommendation process. The fact that every school had a different reccommendation form to fill out was very annoying. I felt horrible asking all of my teachers to fill out form after form.
