  1. I am starting the traditional ADN program in Fall 2009. I would like some feedback from current students in the program as to working. Right now, I am planning on working two 10 hour days a week and didn't know if this might be too much?? Everyone talks about how difficult Foundations is and now I'm a l'il nervous. I would really like to keep my hospital job-but will gladly go contingent if it interferes too much w/ school.
  2. hi everyone!! congrats to all!! i took the traditional track, i have a family and a job. :wink2: i called the office to verify they received my letter back and she said that after the deadline to return your letters (today) that they would be mailing out some info asap because those of us who want to take pharm in the spring need to get the ball rolling. i have been told that the orientation meeting isn't until june-anyone know if that is true? i know we have to get a physical, a drug test, a criminal background check and get fingerprinted. if anyone else has any info please let me know too!!!!!
  3. Thank you Sarey32-I appreciate you being open to more questions-because I'll probably have alot!!!
  4. Thank you so much for the info! Do we take the NET before we start the program in the Fall? I really appreciate you answering all of my questions :)
  5. Hello to any current OCC nursing students. Looking for some info and advice. Please tell me about this NET test and when I can expect to take it. I just got accepted last week. What is on this NET test and is there anyway to study for it? Also, If I heard right we can take Pharm this spring? Does the college schedule us for this and for all of our classes in the program? I was told to take Pharm this spring and NOT to take it w/ Foundations of Nursing in the fall because Foundations is so hard. What actually is so hard about Foundations? Any feedback would be so greatly appreciated because I have so many questions now!! I mailed back my acceptance letter and now am assuming I will get some sort of info packet in mail?? Thanks....:wink2:
  6. got my letter yesterday-got in. keep positive thoughts!! i'm not doing the accelerated program even if i could-i have a family and i'll be working 20 hrs a week so i figure that's enough. my aunt is also an rn in the trauma unit at botsford-she said to stay away from accelerated so i'm gonna take her advice! good luck to you and all whether you take traditional or accelerated!!
  7. :yeah:yeah, the wait is over and i am in!! so relieved!! good luck to all and congrats!!
  8. Waiting w/ a GPA of 3.88....the waiting really is the hardest part!!! No letter today
  9. Hello-I am anxiously waiting, too!! Hopefully we hear soon :)
  10. By OP you mean "other person?" That would be me-where are you finding all these rules? I am new at this and will not ask a name again. Thanks....
  11. Thank you! I work right now on a labor and delivery unit-love the dancing baby!! Good luck to you too :)
  12. Hey-thanks for letting me know-I am totally new to this and did not know about using names-and it tells me I don't have access to private messaging?! Did you upgrade your membership to be able to do this??? Thanks....
  13. Yes, the OCC nursing program. Dr. Boulos is the head of the nursing department there. My GPA is 3.88...good luck to both of us!!!
  14. That is great! I thought if I don't get into the ADN nursing program that maybe I will apply to the LPN program....it sounds like you are working really hard-keep it up-I'm sure it will pay off!! Who is your Pharm teacher and is he/she any good? You have an awesome grade in that class :)
  15. Thank you for your reply. I am waiting w/ a 3.88 GPA...but I guess the waiting really is the hardest part! I am crossing my fingers for both of us! Kudos to you-I know we all have worked hard to get where we are :)
  16. Ok. I am waiting for a letter from OCC to be accepted into the Fall 2009 RN program. I went right into this after high school and didn't pass the first semester by 5 points! At that time, that was it and you were done and that was all their was too it. Fast forward 15 years and the rules have changed and here I am-scared too death. I know the reason I did not pass before was because I did not put any effort into it. I am fortunate to have a caring husband who is very supportive and two great kids...but now everyone is counting on me and it's kind of scary. I guess it's easier to tell all of you this because you don't really know me and I don't have to look any of you in the face if I don't make it....guess I just needed to get this off my chest and get a little encouragement. If you're waiting for a letter from OCC in March, I sincerely wish you all the best of luck. Thanks for listening :)
  17. I went to an info session this past November because I hadn't been to one in years either. Someone asked about the accelerated program and we were told at that time that there would not be one. They said they did it last year because they got a grant from the DMC. So, I am assuming they must have got the same grant this year. I have to work, so I'm not sure I'd want accelerated anyway...
  18. I believe you are done in 14 months instead of two years (not as much time off, breaks, etc.). I was told last year that they took the first 50 people w/ the highest GPA and invited them into the accelerated program...if you don't want to do it-you can still have a place in the traditional program. Are you also waiting for your letter next month?! Good luck to all who are!
  19. Thanks for the info!!
  20. I attend OCC and was told there is no accelerated program this year. How do you know Dr. Boulus and when did she tell you this? Thanks.
