  1. There is a nursing shortage...for EXPERIENCED nurses...not new grads. In this economic climate, it is risky for hospitals to hire new grads. Also there is a lot of nurses that postponed their retirement because of the economy thus reducing the need for new grads.
  2. John Muir is only taking internal applicants and will be that way until further notice which could mean the rest of the year. I've talked to the critical care manager at SF general and they are also only looking for nurses with 1-2 years experience.
  3. Thats not completely true. There are hospitals that wont consider one year of experience in a nursing home. So depending on the hospital you want to end up working in, you may have to keep trying to get a new grad position wherever you can find one.
  4. I waited 5 weeks....FIVE weeks...and I passed =P
  5. I don't think theres any good reason to contest the results unless something happens to what Silverdragon stated. It is either pass or fail when they 95% believe that you could practice as a safe nurse. Theres no other way around that.
  6. ^ Yea their website says 2-4 weeks but over the phone I was told that it could take up to 30 business days which means 5+ weeks
  7. Just an update...I have been back and forth with CA BRN and every time I call they give me a different story. Some of them sound really helpful and after telling them that its been past 4 weeks and still no results, they transfer me to the person reviewing my file. All I get is an answering machine and I've left like 3 messages already without a call back. Today I call them and the operator for the licensing tells me that it hasn't been 30 "business" days. I explain to them that it is suppose to be 2-4 weeks to receive results as stated by your website. She then proceeds to tell me that it is 30 business days and they're just waiting to send out my results. You cannot understand the frustration I am in. I feel i've been doing my part and patiently waiting the 4 weeks they told me to. Now that it is past 4 weeks, they give me the run around and tell me the new thing about waiting 30 business days.
  8. I have an additional rant. I understand what you're feeling Pauween. You've been waiting 1 week, I've been waiting THREE!!! I've called them after 2 weeks, the person told me "just wait for your mail". I know my file is complete also. 1, 2, 3, 7 days go by. Check the mail, NOTHING. So I give them a call back. This time i'm transferred to someone and I leave them a message on their machine. So what am I doing now...waiting some more Even though a lot of my classmates have gotten results in 2-3 days (and passing) then why is it taking so much longer. Honestly, after 21 days i'm okay with failure, but tell me so I can prepare for the next step already. So, you just have to keep waiting. You are at the mercy of the BRN and theres nothing more you can do about it really, but you are not alone.
  9. I know exactly how you feel. I took the test around the same time you did and up till now I havn't received anything. I've been checking my mail everyday and nothing. I would think I would get it soon since i'm not all that far away from sacramento. You're not alone.
  10. I have a question. For those who failed NCLEX RN in CA, how long did it take for you to find out. How many days after taking the test did you receive the letter in the mail?
