  1. Madison, WI and that area are recruiting new grads. In need of RN's
  2. Where I work Minnesota CNA's make 10, lpns 17, mental health techs 15, Rn's 28. Thats all starting wage.
  3. Well, Me and My friend passed! The trick worked for both of us. I am FINALLY an RN. After 48 hours and 3 minutes from the start of my test, PearsonVue had my quick results ready on a sunday! Just waiting for the MN BON to post the results!
  4. Well, I haven't gotten my results yet but my friend that took hers a day ahead of me did. SHE PASSED! good pop up, and passed...I also got the "good pop up" but like everyone else still nervous untill I see it on the BON.
  5. definately know the lab values of electrolytes. I had a LOT of fluid balance questions, K, Ca, Mg, phos, chlor, na...and know which ones are inverse. I had a question about in cushings you'd expect to see .... and they listed hyper/hypo of diff electrolytes. and abg values.
  6. Ok, so I took my test this morning. I got one math question, many electrolyte Q's, and ALOT of SATA. It shut off at 75. I got home an hour later it said delivery successful so I did the trick, and I got the pop up. I'm relieved, but still nervous. My friend that took it yesterday has to still get back to me on her "official" results. but bottom line, in Minnesota, we both got the "good pop-up" and waiting for the BON to post my name!
  7. My classmate took her test today and got the "good" message, I take my test tomorrow morning and u better believe i'm trying out the trick...I'll keep ya posted on our results!
  8. I work at a detox/rehab facility and I am basically a glorified security gaurd, our place is called by some the homeless hotel since its too cold for bums to sleep outside they get a 5 dollar bottle of vodka and check into detox...a majority of our "clients" are forced into our locked facility by the police. It is mainly drunk college kids picked up for being "annoying" so the cop says they are unable to care for themselves, or homeless causing a problem somewhere. About 5% of our people actually use it for the intended purpose. We also house a rehab part but the nurse is always on the detox side deescalating violent drunks. It is good exerience as far as mental health goes, but not at all what I was expecting starting there.
  9. It all depends on the situation. I've had a guy with DT's on an ativan drip at 6/hr and multiple 5mg boluses. In 8 hours he had be given over 150mg and was still very agitated and trying to tear off restraints. On the other hand, I've had people going thru w/d but not dt's and they got pretty sedated from 4mg in 2hours.
  10. I work at a detox facility AKA "the drunk tank." I'm an LPN now, but they'll keep me on and pay me more when I'm an RN. Interesting job, great experience in the mental health department, and psychosocial nursing. Also, LPNs and RNs are being hired on at the plasma centers near my house. Think outside the box. Oh, and for LTC I did it for a year, great place to get some experience with shots, catheters, dressing changes etc. I'm just not one for the non-stop med passing.
