  1. idnurse48, I would love to see the type of holiday schedule you are talking about. We are having the hardest time getting it together here. Can you please email me the schedule? [email protected] Thanks, I appreciate it.
  2. I am so sorry this md yelled at you!! He should have not yelled at all, but we all know that some mds just don't know how to act. Thank God that we do :wink2: Anyway, take it from someone working the night shift......some things can actually wait until the morning. That was one of them. Next time, you can ask your charge nurse if she thinks it can wait, or if she thinks you should call the md. They should know. Keep your head up though and know that all mds are not like that and do not take it personally.
  3. WOW!!!!!! I have never seen anything like this is my entire career!! He or she is crazy! I am going to print this and post it at work and see what my coworkers say! Please find another doc.
  4. I received my childbirth education certification through PCE, www.childbirtheducation.org, and I loved it, loved it, loved it. It was a wonderful experience and I loved the teacher.
  5. I actually have not looked into the national standard (I truly did not know there was one). I think the exact years of experience does not matter (more than 3 preferably), but whether or not that person has leadership qualities, can make decisions in stressful situations, and has the personality to deal with whatever may come (staff, managers, doctors, etc). I do not think our job posting had a specific number of years, it may have said 1-2 years of clinical experience. I will look for the national standard though.
  6. I worked nights for 5 years, then 1 year of days, but now I am back on my night shift. It is very difficult, but you have to try different things to see what will work for you. I sleep a couple of hours that first night that I have to go in and then sleep 7-9 hours each day that I am working. The last morning that I get off, I will try and straigthen up the house a bit before going to sleep, and I will sleep a few hours depending on how tired I am. Sometimes I do sleep the whole day, then I have to drink some wine or take a benadryl to help me sleep that night. It is very unnatural, but that is the best thing for me right now and I truly truly love the night shift. My husband thinks I am crazy!!! I hope you get yourself in a good schedule.
  7. My previous reply was for the Walden University school.
  8. This is the program that I was looking into. I spoke with an Admissions Counselor today and it seems like a great program. How many classes have you taken so far? Are you taking 2 classes at a time?
  9. Thanks for the information.
  10. I am interested in pursuing my MSN degree with emphasis in Nursing Education. I am wondering if any online programs are better than others. I originally looked into UOPhoenix and was not really impressed with the reviews. I have been looking into Kaplan university. I was wondering if colleges and companies look at where the degree comes from and make their decision based on that. Does any educator suggest any better programs? Do you suggest going on campus? Thanks :typing
