  1. I didn't really put a great deal of thought into what I wrote. I mean, I made sure that I wrote about 3-4 well-constructed, gramatically correct sentences. I got accepted, so I would not worry to much about this part. Just make sure to answer what the question is asking and that your sentences have correct grammar and make sense and I think that you will be fine! Hope this helps. Good Luck!
  2. Yelena, I think that they will hand us out a master schedule for fall 2009 at our mandatory meeting on July 27. If you need the schedule sooner I guess you could always contact the director or go to OCCC and speak to someone in the OU-OCCC office about obtaining a copy. If copies are available early will you let me know? I might also check into this.
  3. What about testing to be an LPN after the first year? Can you do that? I had heard from a few people that they thought you could test after completing your junior year of classes. I was just wondering if this was true. I would like to begin working as a nurse for summer break next year.
  4. Also, it is really that hard to make A's in the OU-OCCC program even if you study quite a bit? I am planning to move on to professional school and so grades are crucial. So also what was the course load, schedule, instructors, and grading system like? Just wondering a little more detail about what to expect!
  5. Cha-Cha I had heard some negative feedback after being accepted, but I had no idea it was that bad. I was wondering, after your first year of nursing school at OU-OCCC, are you able to take the exam to become a licensed nurse LPN? I had heard this but was wondering if it were true. Thanks!!
  6. Is Mathew's Bookstore in Tulsa? I am located in OKC so do you know any places around the Oklahoma City area?
  7. Just wondering if anyone can inform me on where a good place is to buy the crimson scrubs required for OU? I know that you can order them through OUHSC, but I was wondering if it is cheaper anywhere else. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
  8. Hey everyone I just found out that I was accepted to the OU-OCCC collaborative agreement. Will anyone else be attending that program next year or does anyone know anything about the program?
  9. I was missing Developmental Psych, Human Physiology, and an Upper Level Non-Western Culture class. I am currently enrolled in the Developmental Psych and Human Physiology. I was planning to take my upper level non-western culture class this summer.
  10. Hey thanks for the info! I wonder if doing the 1 + 1 will help your chances of getting into an LPN program at a tech school. I bet they are pretty competitive also. I will look into this and if I find out any additional info I will let you know!
  11. Since I did not get into the traditional track I was thinking about applying for a LPN program and then possibly doing the LPN-BSN. I am interested in the 1 + 1. Do you have to apply for it at a technology center or community college and when do you apply? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  12. What is the 1+1 program, Jewls67??
  13. I was missing 3 classes, but of the 3, I am currently enrolled in 2 of them. I have heard that they give preference to those that have taken some of their Pre-reqs at OU but I am not sure of that. There is no telling how they do selections. They probably do not base it solely on GPA or I would have thought that I would have had a better chance of getting in. Well, I hope that you can get in! Good luck to you!! Hopefully you will get your letter tomorrow, if not I would call OU.
  14. Honeydawn75, You should get yours soon because I got mine in the mail today and I live in OKC.
  15. Hey everyone! I don't know about anyone else but I finally received my letter today from OU and I did not get in. I was a little surprised because OU told me that I had great chances. I have a 4.0 science gpa and about a 3.85 overall GPA, plus I have made all A's in my prereqs. I guess OU just tells you what you want to hear. I am an alternate but I have no idea how far down the list I am.
  16. NO, not yet. I thought that I would receive it on Friday or Saturday since OU told me that they looked to mail the letters out last Thursday or Friday. I am hoping that I will get it on Monday now!
  17. Hi Jewls67 I have taken all of my science courses except I am currently taking Human Physio at OCCC. The only program that I applied to is the OU traditional BSN. I put my first choice as the OU-OCCC Collaborative agreement and my second as OUHSC-OKC. I was considering applying to OSU-OKC and OCCC for the associates RN degree but I really want a Bachelor's degree. Also, it was $50 to apply plus $25 for background check and I would have had to take the HESI. So what programs did you apply for at OU? I just wondered what you put down as your choices as far as type of program and location.
  18. Good luck to you too! I called OUHSC -OKC because I had a question regarding my application and prereqs. I found out that they are planning to mail out the letters on Thurs. & Fri of next week (April 9 & 10). The admissions advisor told me that the letters are supposed to reach the applicants no later than April 15, but that they will not be mailing acceptance letters any sooner than the 9th or 10th. Hope this helps! I am so nervous because my husband will also have a meeting on April 15 to see if he is being sent back to active duty in the Air Force. Alot could change in my life within the next few weeks (hopefully for the better)! :wink2:
  19. Hey thanks for that information!! I can't wait to see what happens considering I have no backup plan. Good luck to everyone awaiting that much-anticipated letter!
  20. I applied to the OCCC-OU collaborative agreement. I put that down as my first choice and OUHSC in OKC as my second choice. I wonder if that will have an effect on my acceptance. I am just so nervous about getting in, because I missed out on applying to UCO's program, so I left myself with no backup. I just hope that I get in!
  21. Thanks for the info! April could not get here soon enough. I am a little worried about getting in and so I can't wait to find out!
  22. Hi! Does anyone know when they will send out the acceptance letters for the OU traditional nursing program? The woman that I spoke with at OU had said thatshe thought it was March, but was not sure. I just wonderedif anyone else had any information. Thanks!!
  23. Thanks for the response Marilynmom! I was just wondering how difficult it is to work in one of the positions that you listed while attending school? Do you actually learn more through the extra work experience as a nurse or does it make it harder due to taking time away from studying? Also, exactly how far in advance should I look into applying for one of these positions? Thanks for all your help!
  24. Hi everyone I applied to OU's traditional program for Fall 2009. I was just curious if anyone knows if you can work in a nursing position while still in school. With some of the 2-year associate programs, you can work as a nurse tech after the first or second semester is completed. Also, I have heard from a nursing student that she was able to work as an LPN after her first year of RN school. I am just not sure on this issue and if anyone has any information it would be appreciated! It would be nice to be able to work in a nursing position during the summer, between classes.
  25. Hi Honeydawn075 I also applied to OU's traditional program for the Fall 2009. Which campus did you apply to? I applied to the OCCC and OKC campuses. I attended the application workshop and some of the applicants that I talked to mentioned that their GPA was anywhere from 3.0-3.5 and they were worried about getting accepted. I think that the average GPA for the applicants is about 3.5, but I am not positive on that. I just remember overhearing people discussing it at the workshop. I have also heard that you have a better chance of getting accepted if you finished some of your coursework at OU, but again I am not sure if it is true. I would love to know how many applicants they had for Fall 2009. I wonder if they post those statistics anywhere! Well, good luck to you. I know that will be holding my breath until late March/ early April is here whenever I finally recieve my letter!
