  1. I am half way through my first term of school. I quit my full time job but they offered me a part time position until I find something else. That helped to relieve some stress, but Im still pretty nervous about changing careers. I know a lot about my job and the industry. The medical field is completely different from what I am used to. School is pretty overwhelming (my school requires a 79% in Nursing classes to pass). I keep thinking..how will I ever learn and remember all of this!!!! But I really do enjoy school and the program. Im trying to stay positive because I know the future looks bright. Good Luck to you.
  2. Hi Lori, Im not the one who started this conversation but I would like to say that what you wrote in reponse to the new nurse was very encouraging. I am getting ready to start nursing school in July and I am very excited and nervous at the same time. My best friend is an RN and I keep asking her, "How am I going to know everything, or remember everything?". I think this is probably the fear of most new nurses but for you to take the time to write such an encouraging letter to someone you do not know is great! I really appreciate your suggestions and I will defintely remember them when my time comes to start my new career. Thanks for being a great RN. Adie
  3. I start my LPN program at the beginning of July. Our clinicals start about 5 weeks into our first term. We have a nursing lab for the first few weeks to learn the basics, then the last half of the term we get the hands on experience. Good Luck!
  4. Hi Prettymachine, I think with the RN Entrance all sections are on the test. Did you already attend the information session? If so, I think if you just call Hondros they can tell you which sections are on your entrance exam. I took the HESI for the LPN program. I was only tested over four sections, which is why I think you may have all of them. Sorry I cant be certain though. I am starting in July and Im really excited as well. Good Luck with the admissions process. I will help you where I can. Adie
  5. Ok, yea I did purchase the study guide. And actually, I studied a lot of those words before I took the HESI test. Thats great!! The day Im having at work today, I wish I was starting school NOW!
  6. Hey Angela, CONGRATS on passing finals!! Thats great! Sorry it took so long to get back with you. I took a long weekend from work and went to Chicago to see one of my really good friends. I figured it would be a nice little get away seeing how in a couple of months I will not be able to do that!!! :) I appreciate the few pointers. I will definately look back over the math and formulas from the HESI exam. I got a 98% on Math, only missing one problem. So Im confindent if I continue to look over them from now til school starts I should have them down. You also mentioned to start learning some medical terms..do you have a list or a book you used? Im assuming once I schedule they will give me my book list, but until then do you have any recommendations where I could look for these terms? Again, congrats on your Finals. Thats great! Enoy your break!! :) Adie
  7. HI Angela, Yea Im starting by choice in July. My boyfriend is graduating in May with his teaching degree. He is currently student teaching so he is not working. I have to wait until it gets a littel closer for him to start a job so at least one of us will have a job! (we live together). But I really do appreciate you taking the time to help me and give me some insight as to how school and clinicals are going to go. Its make the process a little less nerve racking when you have somone who is already in! talk to you soon. Adie
  8. Angela, I just saw your last post about what the clinicals involve. I have been in transportation for almost six years and have never worked in a medical field setting either. That was one of my biggest reasons for being so nervous. Im glad to hear Im not the only one!!! GOOD LUCK ON FINALS!!!
  9. Hello!!!! Catarat - I am starting in July, oh but how I wish I was starting in April!!! :) Im getting really excited! Hey Angela, Thanks for the information. I guess since I started the admissions process so early and its winding down, IM getting really nervous. I wish I would just start so I can ease my mind. Where did you do your clinical? I think its pretty cool we start clinicals our first quarter. Man I cant wait!!
  10. HI Angela, I havent heard from you in awhile so I thought I would ask how school was going? I just fininshed my CPR class the other night. Besides my liability insurance, that was the last thing I had to do for admissions. Im getting really excited and have started my countdown to when I get to give notice at work!! Hope all is well. Have a great weekend! Adie
  11. Animal and I are actually at the Cincinnati Branch. But I enjoy reading what everyone has to say about starting and scheduling. Im not starting until July but Im sooooo excited! I almost wish I could start in April!!
  12. I completely understand your nervousness! I do not have any children but I will have to quit my full time job in order to attend school. I have a degree in business management and I Have been stuck in transportation for five years. I have a decent job and it pays well but I am not happy. Its not what I want for the rest of my life. I have decided that I do not want to wake up in ten years and regret not doing something that would make me happy. Keep in touch and good luck.
  13. Thank you very much for the information. Are you attending Hondros in COlumbus ? Now that I am accepted Im really anxious to get started as well! :) COngrats to you as well and good luck.
  14. Hi Angela, I just wanted to let you know that I was accepted on Friday! Now I just have to work wrapping up the admissions process...the CPR and Financials and all that stuff. I also have to get a game plan together for quitting my job! A little nervous about that one! Anyway, I just thought I would let you know. I will be starting in July! :) Adie
  15. Yes, I took the HESI Exam. I didnt think it was all the hard. The hardest section was Vocab for me. As long as you review over the math part its pretty easy.
  16. I just took my entrance exam for Nursing School. They test you over Grammar, Reading Comp, Math and Vocabulary. My school actually had a Study Guide that you could buy that went along with the test they administered. I think they all have different companies for the test but pretty much the same information. Math basically covers Roman Numerals, Measurements (a little of everything: Kg, mm, oz, cups, gallons, etc), fractions, and basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and change Farhenheit to Celius. For Vocab my book had a pretty good list of possible words. I hope this helps!!
  17. Yea I think you are right. I know the few classes I might be able to transfer in they take into consideration how long it has been since you took the class and what grade you received. Good Luck. Let me know if I can help.
  18. Hi patel.....I have a bachelor's degree in management but I graduated three years ago. To my knowledge, they havent mentioned anything about their GPA requirement. But I havent been accepted yet either!! They have information sessions a few different nights a week so it might not be a bad idea for you to attend to have these questions answered. Im sorry. I dont really have that much information for you. Hopefully someone else does, or like I said, if you attend an information session, it might be pretty helpful!
  19. HI Animal! So I have survived my HESI Exam!! Next step is the interview, which Im going to try and set up next week or the week after. I was just curious about the interview. She told me to have questions ready to ask during the interview. I was wondering what kinds of questions you asked? I planned on asking their NCLEX pass rate and if they have study groups or tutoring sessions to help with our studies. But I kind of wanted some info from someone who has been through the process. I hope your midterms went well! :nuke:
  20. HI Animal- Im sure you are busy with midterms, but I have been looking over the HESI study guide. I have been through three of the four sections and have completed all the practice questions at the end of each section with ease! Just out of curiousity I took a look at the practice test at the end of the book and was surprised at some of the questions! Are they really that difficult and sometimes off the wall? Should I study the metric system more? Sorry for all the questions! I cant wait until this test is finished!! :) GOOD LUCK ON MIDTERMS!
  21. Timustang04 - Thank you so much for the feedback. Congrats on graduating the first part! I am getting so nervous! But before I get nervous about school I should probably worry about getting in first!!! I will definately be in touch!
  22. Hi Animal! Hope school is going well. I just picked up the study guide yesterday and was surprised how easy the math portion was!!! Anyway, I was wondering if you took the LPN Entrance Exam or the RN Entrance Exam? If you took the LPN, was there measurements and roman numerals on the test? I was talking to a lady who was taking her test yesterday and she was studying like Militers and Roman Numerals. Just curious if you remeber if they were on the test.
  23. Well thats good news! We just bought a new computer at the house and I really didnt want to have to buy a lap top. I like the idea of printing off the powerpoint before class too! Thanks again! We will have to stay in touch. I will let you know if I get accepted!! Good Luck. I hope it keeps going well for you!
  24. That is kind of what I am thinking. I ended up calling Good Sam and there is a year waiting list. I do not want to wait that long to begin school. So like you, I think Hondros will get me where I need to be in order to get my license. Also, I was looking for that Study Guide for the HESI and the only one I found was for the NCLEX. I couldnt find one for the actual entrance exam. Any suggestions? Finally, I noticed you guys talking about lap tops. Is that a requirement at Hondros? They didnt mention that in the info session so I was curious. Thank you for all your help. Im really nervous about starting school, if you havent noticed!!! :wink2:
  25. I am going through the application process right now. I feel you on the nervous factor!!! This field is completely different from the field Im currently in and completely different from what I am used to. But I can not wait to get started!!! I think it will be better for me in the long run! And hang in there. I have heard its tough, but like they said, it will pay off!!!
