  1. Well, yes you' re right. I am licensed in PA. Today I read again their requirements for renewal & inactive status. They say clearly that no renewal is allowed if you don' t have SS#. I plan on sending them an email and asking about specific requirements for inactive status (for an IEN)...if there is something different compared to citizens/rezidents (when/if I want to reactivate it). Thank you for replying.
  2. Hello everybody, I was very proud when I got my US RN License. Unfortunately, I cannot actually use it because of the retrogression and had no luck in finding a sponsor for an H1B visa. Now, I was still offered a sponsorship for a GC, but I was afraid of taking it because of so many years of waiting and I don' t know what will be by then. My question to you is: how do you all keep your license active all these years ? This was one of my big issue with accepting or not the sponsorship for GC. I do have my license on paper, but on my BON website is stated clearly that they do not renew it without a SS#. It is also difficult and expensive to endorse it to another state (and for some it is required again the SS#)...and it doesn' t change the situation too much (since I should wait like 4-5-7 years from now). How about putting it in inactive status (I mean...have somebody done this with their first license...advantages/disadvantages) ? In addition, I have chances of finding work in another country. Is it required for a GC to be granted to have your license active in your home country ? In other words...Could be a problem if you go in a different country meanwhile .... till your PD becomes current ? Well...I know that there are sooo many nurses out there who wait for their GC several years. I hope somebody will give me a piece of advice. Thank you for any input.
  3. For gillbert (your last reply here) While I know that this is the official requirement, I also know somebody who got a H1B visa last year (June or July 2009) without a VSC. This person didn' t have a specialty or experience. Still, s/he got a 2 year-valid visa and is now working in the US. I believe that this person is not the only exception to the rule. I think it is more about being lucky...or taking the risk...or having the right information in the right moment/place, knowing the right person...etc. Meanwhile...I am a VSC holder, with a RN License (issued) and over 10 years ER experience and no luck in finding an employer to sponsor me...hehehe. So...there are the rules, but also there are many exceptions to them. Good luck to everybody.
  4. Hi ablez76, Well...our situation is rather different, I guess. I need to find an employer to sponsor me for visa...and this seems to be a dream right now. I didn' t say that my experience is not recognized at all. I was just shocked to hear you saying this. Anyway...actually, some employers did call me right after I' ve sent my application, because of my experience. But...when they' ve heard that I need visa sponsorship, they said that they cannot help me now. Sooo...I understand that you don' t have the same problem, right ?! I have also tried recruiting agencies, but they either told me that it is a bad time for a IEN to come to USA, or didn' t respond at all. So, here I am. If I knew that this is the situation, I would have never started this long process... I would also like to speak more with you, but I am not allowed yet to send private messages. And, posting here more details about me...I am not quite sure it' s a good idea. However, I see that you have more than 15 posts, so you may try to send me a PM with your email address and then we' ll take it from there. Until then, I wish you good luck.
  5. Hello, To OP: I am really sorry, but I can' t give you any advice. I graduated in Romania and I took my NCLEX in another state, so, I am not familiar with CA requirements. However, I know that for any state you have to pass the English exam (Toefl or Ielts) and for me this was more time-consuming and stressful than NCLEX (I passed Toefl). To carmenmagda 2003 and ablez 76: I am so happy to see that there are some romanian nurses here. I passed the NCLEX last March and I have 14 years experience in Romania (ED and OR). Since I' ve got my license, I have been applying for a job in the US. Well, I know that it is hard even for citizens, I know it is recession, and I will persevere. But, is it possible that nothing from my experience to be recognized here because it' s from my country ? I am shocked to hear this !! Since this is the situation in the US, I was thinking of getting my license in the UK. I know that I have to meet their requirements first. But, please, carmenmagda, can you tell me more details about nursing in the UK ? I mean, compared to that from Romania. How much time did it take to get the license there (in your case, of course) and how would be the chances of finding a job there with my experience ? I see that you want to pass NCLEX. Ask me whatever you want about it and I will try to help you. The NCLEX section of this forum was helpful for me, indeed, but you still need to study hard by yourself (this was my case). I am not allowed to send PMs. But, if you can, please, do not hesitate to contact me (both of you). I hope you can answer some of my questions. Thanks. I wish you all the best. Well, and sorry, OP. We have met here because of you, but I hope that people more knowledgeble than me will answer you. Good luck.
  6. Well, I 'm not an OB nurse, I 'm still studying for the NCLEX exam. I would say D for # 1, A and D for #2 and A and B for # 3 ( it is not specific for uterine rupture, so I think the nurse should first assess further ). Please, when you have the correct answers, tell them to us. Good luck.
  7. Hi Silverdragon102, Thank you for orienting me. It was my first post here, but I have been reading this wonderful website for many months. I hope to be more attentive next time. Bye.
  8. Hello, KAYBDT 6 Thank you so much. It seems to be VERY helpful. I 'm eager to try it. Have a nice day. Bye.
  9. Hello, thank you for this link. It seems to work for me. I 'll start right away to do some questions from it . Good luck.
  10. Hello everyone, I plan to take the NCLEX exam next January or February. I passed the CGNFS exam last November and I used mostly Saunders and Kaplan. I also have Lippincott. Now, I 'm not sure if these materials are enough for NCLEX. I want to do as many questions as possible ( especially prioritization-analyze questions). I found few websites that offer online study, but I would like to know if they are worthwhile. One website is : http://www.rnquiz.com They ask for 50$ but I don 't know how many question they offer and if these question resemble the questions in the real test. Another one is : http://passnclex.drexel.edu/q-a_net.aspx Here, they charge 99$ for 2000 questions. Of course, I know that the best may be the Qbank offered by Kaplan, but the issue for me is the money....I have to pay 299$ for them.... So...please, if there is somebody who can give me some advice, or who has some more information about these sourses, I would really apreciate. Thank you. Good luck to everybody.
