what do you wish you knew back then??
In clinicals, get as much experience as you possibly can. Be available to put in that IV, or drop an NG tube. Do as much as you possibly can. Because once you are out of school, you don't have an instructor to ask every little question about. Take advantage of them. That's why they are there! My advice is to go on ratemyprofessor.com and judge how good a teacher is before you take their class. Your nursing school experience will be directly related to how eager your profs are to teach you. The better they are, the better you will be!! Also know EVERYTHING about your drug groups!

Are there enough "New-grad" positions in your area?
I'm graduating in May from a nursing school in Buffalo NY. Most area hospitals are teaching hospitals who are hiring new grads with really great orientation programs. If you can take the cold its a great place to start!

Hang in there new and recent grads! Nine months and 286 applications.
Hmm....I graduate this May and it's been my dream for the past 4 years to live and work in Boston. That post was SERIOUSLY depressing....but I guess with enough persistence you can achieve anything. I don't suppose they hire new grads do they haha :)

Doom and Gloom (A & P 1)
I travel across the border from Canada into NY state daily for nursing school. My A & P teacher first year, first semester did not allow me to retake a midterm examination after being held at the border. I subsequently failed the course and had to retake the class putting off my entire graduation schedule not to mention the thousands of dollars I was put out to retake it. I am now in my last semester, last year of my BsN course and couldn't be happier!! The course is difficult. Alot of memorization and recalling but as long as you have the drive to do it, you can do it. It is all a matter of how much you want it! Good Luck!

Best NCLEX Review
Our School uses Kaplan and they are excellent. They have a number of practice tests, integrative testing and ways of recognizing your trouble areas so you can address them before you sit for your boards. Along with the fee that we pay, it includes a number of 3 hour classes after graduation before you take your NCLEX. They have a 90% pass rate I believe. I would recommend looking into it!!
