  1. Man I'd love to only need a 70. Our program requires an 80 on ALL theory grades or you don't pass the class.
  2. 4 in a class of 75. I'm the oldest at 34, the others are early 20s.
  3. 72 new students in this years class. 6 12 person clinical groups.
  4. Look into a private university, they typicaly take 2.7+ gpa, but be prepared to shell out 12,000+ a semester.
  5. Failure to disclose all previous college experience can ( at my school lead to dishonesty dismissal ) so be careful Edit:stupid ipad typo
  6. Gives 5 points per test if you correctly answer a "clinical" style critical thinking question
  7. If you can afford to get your BSN now, I would do that. I'm changing careers, and the question between BSN and ADN, for me, has always been 'what do I want to do when I graduate'. If you answer that question and you can do everything you want to do as an ADN, then by all means do that. If not, and say you want to go further eventually, NP, Management, etc, get your BSN now.
  8. I just had to post and say how happy I am!! Just got the results of my first A&P test (Biochemistry section) back today and I got a 105! *does a dance* I've been so worried for what seems like forever that A&P was going to be impossibly hard. I hope with continued nose to the gridstone studying I'll be able to keep these kinds of test scores all semester.
  9. Private schools don't typically work on a points system. I am going to be attending LRU (Lenoir-Rhyne University) for my BSN next fall. They work solely on GPA, you need a 2.7 gpa to enter the nursing program. This last year the graduating class had a 100% NCBSN passing rate.
  10. I agree with some of the other posters. Stick it out, don't base your entire career decision off of one bad clinical. Nursing is a very large field with lots of different job opportunities. I personally have not started clinicals but the above was the advice given to me by a longtime friend and nurse.
  11. I think it really depends on your support system and how much your SO is willing to do. My wife is very supportive and is a stay at home mom, so I'd also choose the second option
  12. Thanks for the encouragement!
  13. I have been wanting to go to nursing school for several years. (I'm 30) I've decided to finally do it. I've started the process to take pre-req's and hopefully apply to the ADN program for the Fall 2010 semester. I think I may be psyching myself out a little bit since it's been 12 years since I graduated. Can anyone else share with me how difficult they found the transition from full-time work to full-time school? Also, how difficult did you find the TEAS exam? How high does my math proficiency need to be? I'm fine up through Algebra I, but much past that and I have forgotten a lot. I was told by my local school that the nursing program is very competitive. 600 applicants, and only 60 slots. When I asked where the bar is at to get a seat, he really couldn't give me an answer. I'm sure the bar moves with each set of students applying, etc. Should I be shooting for a 4.0 in all prereqs, and a perfect TEAS score, or is there a bit of latitude in that. I obviously want to get into the program as quick as possible, because I can't put my work life on hold forever. (I have a wife and a 1 year old.) Thanks!!:typing
