  1. As someone getting ready to enter nursing school I have to ask... Would you discourage someone from pursuing nursing as a career? What are the biggest downsides?
  2. Sounds like someone else's world view being pushed your way. Calling, Destiny, Karma...whatever... Unless we all think we're Luke Skywalker or something and we can't do something without the will of the Force we might as well just stay home. If YOU think it would be a cool professsion and something you might be good at, then jump on in!
  3. I'm 48. Just applying to ABSN programs. EVERYONE in medicine I have asked about starting later says the same thing: "Go for it!" Best of luck!
  4. I JUST enrolled in the Micro course and am waiting to get my materials. The program I will be applying to (Duke's ABSN) does NOT require a lab component...just the credits so the Rochester program will work for me. I think there are pros and cons to the Fast Track program. The most obvious is that you can get the courses done very quickly AND totally at your own pace (no forced logins or set schedules) which really appealed to me. Also the classes while not cheap ($990 each plus text) are about half the price of University of Phoenix. Considering the cost and given that the purpose is to get done FAST I don't have any high expectations about personal attention. I am fine though with just slogging through and getting the credits under my belt. Would love to hear from any others how this program went for them.
