WGU Prelicensure-Cedars Sinai-Oct, 2014
So I got an email today stating I did not make the LA cohort. I emailed my admission rep and asked for my nursing file to be submitted for the Orange County cohort.

WGU Prelicensure-Cedars Sinai-Oct, 2014
Yeah my counselor told me the same. So I planned a Vegas trip for Labor Day so I wont even think about it until I get back. I look at it like i have two tries to get into the program. Either the Los Angeles or Orange County cohort. I live in Long Beach so either one is fine with me.

Pre-Licensure -Application Process Questions
Good lord I know its late response. lol. I haven't been on this site for a loooong time! any how to aswer your question USU was a great school. As with all schools you have some problems, but overall I don't have anything bad to say about them. Their online classes are very easy to navigate and the professors help you out if you need it. I looked at nursing schools I wanted to go to and based on their pre reqs I took those courses at USU. I did start all over with my pre reqs. It took me a year and 2 months to finish all of my pre reqs to get into a bachelors program for nursing. I took a heavy course load so I dedicated my life outside of my full time job to going to school. So basically I had no life for a year and 2 months. At the end of the day it was well worth it. I don't do well in a 16 week class. I will lose focus and end up dropping the class. So the 8 week class was just for me. Kept me in check. Again sorry for the late reply. If you have any questions just email me at [email protected].

Pre-Licensure -Application Process Questions
I applied for the Bachelor of Health Science, but I knew I would just take my pre-reqs and then transfer. I don't qualify for financial aid so I took out loans, but they do offer financial aid. They also have scholarships. I wrote a one page letter and I get $150 off per class which is great seeing that each unit is $250. Like I said I did my research and found out it was WASC accredited. Turned out to be a great school. You are not treated as a number, but as a student. Good luck.

Anyone Attending Western Governors University Pre-licensure Nursing on Oct 2011?
I am currently applying to wgu for their nursing program. I took my pre-reqs at United States University (USU) I know it sounds like a hoax type school, but I did my research and they are WASC accredited! So I could care less what the name of the school is. I completed all of my pre-reqs in about a year. This school has two campuses one it San Diego and one in Cypress. I like the fact that people really don't know about this school because my class size for most of my science classes averaged 8 people. Classes are 8 weeks long too. Oh and the best part they are only $250 per unit which is way cheaper than other universities and with no wait time better than the community college. Back to wgu...my experience so far is great. My admission adviser lets me know exactly what classes I needed. I forgot to say when I was done with about more than half my pre-reqs I had wgu look at my transcripts and they all transferred over. So now I need to take my teas test and then apply in the beginning of next year. I am pretty confident I will get in.

United States University, San Diego Brick and Mortar School
I will be starting with USU at the end of August. I am also a LVN with no degree. I know that if the ELM program is BRN my job (VA in long beach) will still not accept it without it being CCNE accredited. So I will be getting my bachelor of health science. If they are approved by the time I am done then I will go with them, if not I will transfer to another school.

Start LVN school in 8 days
Ok here is my version of life of a lpn student...make sure that you have a bottle of wine because you are going to need it when you get so stressed out! I would practice especialy for the nclex your critical thinking. What also helps is the ERI. I don't know if your school has it, but it really helps with the critical thinking. For clinicals I would say to be the one to find your own problems with patients, meaning if your doing a bed bath and you notice the other patient has a foley cath then take the initiative and ask the nurse if you can replace it (if it has doc orders). The thing I hate is that students complain that there arent any procedures to do and they don't go looking for themselves. At my school we have 2 patients, but I want to learn so I am walking up and down the halls answering call lights (you never know what your going to get) assessing patients and seeing what I can do to get better at being a nurse. The most important thing I would say is to make sure things are good at home. If things are bad then they will reflect in your school work! 1 year is a long time especialy for things to happen so prepare yourself for a ride of a lifetime! In my year I have experienced death, my cancer coming back, arguments with boyfriend, moving, high gas prices, and my year isn't done yet! Just keep the faith as I have and count down because it will be here before you know it. Good luck, I will say a prayer for you and your family!

West Coast University
Ok so I am new to this but I would like to go the best route to get my education and fast! A friend of mine recently told me about West Coast Univeristy and I was thrilled because I need to work and go to school at the same time. Heck I did a year of lpn school so 18 more months couldn't hurt. I know that all schools have their problems as my lpn school had a lot, but I just would like to know what I am going to get myself into with this school. I would like to hear from people who attend because I think that it is better to hear from your mouths than from the admission reps. I graduate from lpn april 09, but my plan is to work for about 6 months untill my student loans come knocking on my door. Then I plan on enrolling into the school. I am doing my research now. I really don't want to take the jc route because i need that structure. I do well under pressure so accelerated programs are for me. I just want to know what I will be getting myself into. Thanks!
