When you did the Nursing Exell, did you study anything before that??? For instance, you did Kaplan in 2009 and then the nsbn...What did u use to study before doing the excell? :tku: for welcoming me to the group!!

:ancong!: to all the NCLEX passers! :) You are all truly an inspiration. Congrats NEVER STOP SMILING! :)))) I am new to allnurses looking for some words of encouragement and lots of motivation! I think I found the right place. There are lots of great things that I read in the blog I feel could really help me. I feel like I've waited so long to take the NCLEX (Graduated May 2011, but completed clinical nursing courses back in August last year). I am battling fear and anxiety along with weakness in the Physiology content. I took the Kaplan review program in April and didn't quite reach the recommended benchmark for sitting to take test (60-65%). I always stay in 50's range. Any tips of review or study plans on how to do better, I would really appreciate it :) I have the Saunders 5th edition, Kaplan Course book, ATI 2007 books and the Kaplan NCLEX-RN Strategies, practice and review book with me. Its overwhelming. I am starting to think maybe I should just retake Kaplan (payment of $250 administrative fee). Hey Bubbles2610, I am in Cohort 18 program with gnomik, tuquies and pretty in pink :), and we have two days of theory (mon & wed) 9-1230 - not even enough time, usually we stay 10 or 15 mins later..and labs on mon/wed or tues/thurs (they put u in groups) from 5 -10:30 supposedly, but our instructors gave us the choice of an earlier time like 415-845p as long as we get 4 1/2 hours of lab time. Yes! There is something due almost every day - I mean its a semester long class (4-5mos) down to 1 month!!! If not homework, there is 4-5 chapters of reading!! every other day! Its really intense. I read that you wanted to have a baby..if you and your partner are not rushing maybe, it might be easier for u to focus on this program...i remember during orientation the faculty told us strictly this is NOT the time for babies or WEDDING PLANS.. But, everyone is different, it all depends on ur own schedule and study habits. I work p/t and have a husband - no kids; it's already w/ just me and my supportive husband - there's just not enough time given for school ( i mean, 1 month! )that you'll need ur OWN personal spare time, to study and read, review and practice skills..write papers, projects,.etc. Goodluck, I hope you'll make a decision that will positively impact you and your family. It was great meeting you ladies yesterday! Thanks for all the helpful notes. I am trying to think of what I can do to contribute as well. I haven't looked at the notes yet, I am finishing up on my reading...really interesting info, but also something I've studied before in Child Dev and culture and psychology. OMG! two more days or less :) So excited.. I think we will all be great nurses!! Sam, don't worry to much on that ATI test, because even my stress & coping was about the same, and talk about knowledge of health profession as well was kinda low..even if I thought CNA would be helpful. I don't think this ATI personality test thingy or whatever is very accurate.. SMILES :) :) Two more days! Thanks again ladies!

Ok Cool!! Lime green sweatshirt, that should be easy to find :). I don't think we met at the orientation, but hopefully I'll find you guys tomorrow. I'll be easy to find.. if you see tiny me, petite and short (seriously, not even 5"!!), i'll be wearing glasses. Who's coming? :wink2:

The ATI test that we have to do before starting NSG 211 is just a personality type test. It was listed on one of the things to remember or do from the orientation; an e-mail from SMascolo the week after the orientation she sent to us. Nothing to worry about :)

Thanks for the invite :wink2: It will be nice if one of us held up a sign at Starbucks, so we'll know..LOL :[anb]: :lol: I am two exits up north. I can join you all for a couple of hours, then i'll have to work before 5pm. It sucks now I have to drive all the way to Aero from PQ!! I feel you all, those who have to drive to Kearny Mesa for our theory class. Hopefully, it won't take too long, but it will all be worth it :yeah:I called the office at NU to ask how long this construction will be going on and they said they're contracted 'til May but not sure if thats all Nursing dept. So, I guess all I have to do is finish up reading and take the ATI test. I will figure out the unbound medicine download on my touch. Is it free to download from school to our touch?? Thanks! Just to clarify - we'll need to get the ff done: gmail acct, e-mail Jill re:email, nu-fast acct, unbound medicine sign-up @nu computer, Get required texts: book, lab manual & APA - then read first 4 chapters by April 6th!!, e-college (?).. will need to check that one.. oh and yeah, how/when do we get our uniforms?? Plus, the ATI package is included, right? When do we get all this?? Lol, i'm beginning to stress... this part shouldn't be as stressful as getting all our stuff together for the orientation.. so excited to start class!! within two weeks, huh? we'll find out if we'll get the days for our night or day lab.. ahh..hope its all one day, so we won't have to drive so much. hey hey! malpractice insurance for $20 a year!! Which one is that, if you don't mind? I read about the NSO or the HPSO coverage and it is about $25/year. I know its a few bucks, but penny:twocents: these days are needed, especially if going to nursing school!!

I do not know when exactly in April we start, it lists one month or two months - then April 2009, June/July 2009, together with NSG + course no...etc. Here is that list I hope it would paste right : * Actual current CPR/AED card and copy of front and back of card * For LVNs and RNs ONLY, actual current LVN or RN license and copy of front and back of license * Actual Declaration of Malpractice Insurance page and copy (Proof of malpractice insurance) * Proof of Health insurance coverage. Copy of front and back of insurance card. * Original National University Immunization and Physical Examination form; signed and completed by your healthcare provider. No copies or reproductions will be accepted. * Signed HIPPA completion form * Photo Identification will be required to obtain student ID.

(instead of July) This is a very interesting thread and would like to share some info to my future nursing mates about where to find malpractice ins. info. The nursing advisor sent me a couple e-mails, including a schedule list of courses & orientation packet (site, shots, background, uniforms, etc..). The other email is the announcement for the 18th Cohort Orientation summary - organized list of what is required on Feb 13, optional, what needs to be turned in, etc... This was a really helpful list. Here, they listed the websites including - http://www.nso.com/, http://www.hpso.com/, and www.proliability.com / Coverage needed at a Registered Nurse Student level is $ 1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 per aggregate. We need to bring current policy declaration page and one copy. Reading above a couple earlier posts, price is not as bad - around $26 - $30 a year? Hope this will help ~ sorry so lengthy.
