  1. to op: i could have written your post a year and a half ago. i have suffered anxiety and panic attacks during my life. first, when i was a little girl then it seemed to go away. as i was taking my pre requisite classes (and working 30 hours a week, and commuting 2-3 hours a day), panic attacks came back with a vengeance. i literally had to take off a week of work and school and stay at home and not move, i was terrified of losing my job, losing my great gpa, and losing my mind!! i was so scared. it has taken a lot to heal and get into my program, but you know what? i'm doing it and a year ago, i thought i was going to go crazy! i had to go to my md, get a rx for paxil and xannex and though that doesn't work for everyone it has worked miracles for me. i slowly started back at work and school, and just know you can always politely excuse yourself to the bathroom. i know you probably feel like you are trapped in a room or situation. you’re not!! as you slowly gain your confidence again, you can and will succeed! as most people with our disorder, we are over achievers and want to be perfect. stop! stop comparing yourself to others and go out and rock it! feel free to email me ajroth19 @ yahoo
  2. Hey it's me, go to the student section and you can talk to the people who are starting to take the pre-reqs are. First become a CNA, then start taking your pre-reqs. -AJR
  3. Thank you for your replies. Jo I love your attitude. I'm on way to getting there. I think also because I'm young (24) sometimes I don't get taken seriously. I guess I'm also wondering do you think it is easier to work in a hospital vs working for a single doctor in a private practice (like a dentist). It is hard to work for someone who is often the office manager, check signer, and you are assisting him 8 hours a day.
  4. Hello ! Quick question. Is the nursing field an abusive one? Is it like the military to work in a hospital? Do the doctors be little you and disrespect you? I am in the dental field and this is what it is like to work in many dentist's offices as their clinical assistant. I love the options that nursing has, but you alot of you deal with these same issues? Thanks! -A

Hello Nurses, I am almost ready to apply to a dental hygiene program, but now that I have finished my pre-reqs and have been around many pre-nursing people I am starting to change my mind. I have worked in dental for four years and find working for a small business very taxing at times. I was also recently diagnosed with general anxiety disorder which I find is pretty well controlled with paxil. Is nursing so stressful that I should not even consider it? Any other dental people switch to medicine? Any nurses dealing with GAD? Thank you for your time!
  6. Just letting you guys know that my school has just stated that NO science course that has a non supervised lab will be excepted. Make sure you check with your schools first!!
  7. For those that are out of state are you able to transfer these classes for your nursing programs?
