Hello all. I am enrolled in the CWCN program at Univ of Washington this spring. Has anybody taken this course and have insights into clinical sites ? Thanks for any info !

Hello... I have to take a CNA course (cannot test out) for my ADN program, and am looking at taking an EMT to CNA bridge course. Does anybody know of any in North Carolina ? I have been searching online, but have not found one. Thanks!! --Jason

Jules87... I will also be applying for the Traditional program, but I am out-of-state, like yourself. I was looking at the school's policy, and out-of-state people are given last priority for the slots. Well not quite last, international students are last, but us out-of-staters are next to last. I am hoping that somebody who is in the program can share some light on whether there were any out-of-staters in the program when they started, or if the Virginians took all the slots... AndreaM... Have you checked out Moore Regional ? It's a 45 minute drive from most places in Fayetteville. You might have some luck there....

Getting Started... I have had this same problem. My Bachelors was in Computer Science and my GPA is a 2.4 from that program. I have had to take a lot of sciences (A&P, Micro, Psych, Sociology) in order to get my foot in the door at some programs. However some programs require a 3.0 or higher in your previous GPA just to apply. So those doors are closed for now. This seems to be especially true in the PA schools. It is not impossible to get your GPA up, and you can explain your "youthful indiscretions" at an interview, or in an essay. If they don't do either of those?? Then you're stuck. I know it sucks... But what other choice do you have ? You should be able to get in a community college nursing program, or a program like Watts which heavily weights your testing scores (I think). Some BSN programs may also look at your science GPA, which another poster mentioned. As for PA school.... Most schools require a minimum amount of hands on experience, good science grades and other "check boxes" to be filled. I'm in the same boat as you, I would love to go to PA school. But I've gotta get that GPA above a 3.0. Only way to do that ? Take & Retake classes... Best of luck. There is a school out there that you could probably get in by Fall 2010. It may not be Duke or UNC, but at the end of it you will be a RN. From there the rest is up to you right :)

I was looking at the CNA I as well, and the SO told me that 1/2 of her class didn't take the course, they just took the test and got the certification. Something to think about...

SJack011: To answer your questions, no she did not have to reapply. She had already completed A&P I & II, Micro, Psych & her other electives, so she only had the Nursing classes to take. I believe this helped her on the Stage II College Course Worksheet. She has people fresh outta high school, and people in their early 40's, with and without college. So I'm not sure what exactly they use as criteria...

Howdy.... I haven't applied for the Fall 2009 class, but I will be applying to the Fall 2010 class. My significant-other is currently in her second semester of the program. She is doing well, and puts the time in. So far she has lost approx 10 people in her class, for one reason or another.
