New NICU nurse
Hi everyone, I just started the NICU about 3 months ago and love it. The only problem is that I am constantly worried that I am forgetting to do something or I am going to mess up some how. My preceptors have assured me I am doing a great job for being a new grad but I just wondered if that feeling ever goes away. I am constantly worried about it, even on my days off, is that pretty common? Everyone else seems so at ease. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!!!

Sentara, here I come!
hey, you should get a list of recommended books need for the entire program, if you post that I can make sure they are all the same. I did not use the rolling backpacks and I dont think it is really needed. I did not bring my book in everyday, just always made sure it was in my car if I needed it. The teachers are good and they will prob try to scare you about the amount of work it takes, it takes alot of work dont get me wrong, but it is completely do-able. A laptop was useful in class, escpecially for taking notes and looking up their powerpt. I also would like to one day go back to Neonatal NP school, VCU is suppose to have a really good rn to bsn program that is on weekends and only takes like a year. So but good luck and let me know the names of those books when you have a minute. Happy New Year!

Sentara, here I come!
Congrats to everyone, I just graduated from Sentara's program, it was alot of hard work but totally worth it. When I entered the program I had a 3.0 GPA but i think it has become more competitive over the last couple of years. Is ya'lls program a BSN or Diploma? I know they are trying to get a BSN program but wasn;t sure when it started. Also if anyone needs books let me know, I still have all of them. I kow the uniforms have changed this past year so can't help with that (ya'll are lucky tho, the last ones were ugly-looked lke painter uniforms). Good luck and study hard, its not that bad

Ever have one of those days
I just want to thank all of ya'll for posting. I am going to start in the NICU in January and have gone back and forth on whether NICU is right for me and if I would be able to cope with the possible loss of an infant. But it is very true that I will be there to help, and can help not only the patients, but the families. Thank you again for all of your honesty
