50 is not too old! you're maturity and 'life knowledge' already have you ahead of alot of younger people who don't know what they want. if you're mind is made up - go for it! my sister started her nursing career @ 49 & my mother, her teaching career @ 53. congratratulations and the best of luck! after being an lvn for 21 years - i have decided to go for my bsn...so if anyone knows a really good on-line school, please let me know! :flwrhrts: kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear - mark twain

To: squawmeemaw I have been and continue to be in management most of my career. I have worked in-patient, out-patient, LTC & Assisted Living. The bulk of mu career as been running a chemotherapy department. I know where you are coming from with inferior employees. My comment about management was directed towards 'superiors' not at you. It was not an attack on you, but I still say - If You Do Not Enjoy It - Get Out!

To all of the 'nurses' who hate being a nurse - GO DO SOMETHING ELSE! If you hate what you do, why waste your time? As a nurse for over 21 years - I can't imagine doing anything else!:redpinkhe And for the 'nurse' who was in charge & 'set-up' by staff, if you manage appropriately then you wouldn't have all of the problems you have. Their are bad staff members as well as bad managers. Not everyone can be a nurse - not even all nurses should be nurse. I pray that no one in my family ever has the misfortune to be cared for by someone who dislikes their job so much. I LOVE everything about being a nurse - even the crappy jobs you are dealt means that you have made life better for someone else, and after all isn't that what 'NURSE' is all about?:heartbeat Please - for the sake of the poor people who will eventually depend on you for care...QUIT!!!!
