great, let me know what they say about the 9 unit csu req. Also, that commute on the 405 n and s will be HELL...

levoila: im beginning to think msmc might be a better choice than csun because graduating earlier (12 mo versus 15mo+9csu units) means you are earning a salary sooner AND you can apply to msn-np programs sooner...what do you think? you have to admit, msmc is more conveinant for us too...

levoila: would it make any difference on your decision process if you had been admitted to csun and msmc BOTH for the summer?

I was admitted to both csun and msmc for the summer cohorts. were you admitted to both for this summer too? Also, as I said, I want my fnp ultimately -- and the sooner the better. But if i apply for fall '10 np programs, the app's will be due feb'10 when i am still working on a bsn and not offically an rn. Would programs consider an app like this? it seems not likely, so it looks like the earliest we could apply for np programs would be feb'11 for fall'11!!!!!I guess that is why entry level programs are so conveinant...how do you feel about this? do you think programs would consider someone for an msn-np if they are still in "rn" school at the time they filed the application???

levoila: thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question so thoroughly. It will help in my decision process. I feel the same way you do about loving everything -- the location, campus, 12 mo. -- about msmc, but the cost. CSUN is a tremendous commute (and I dont want to move) and will take longer, especially with the 9 unit thing. If it were not for the cost, I would choose msmc. However, I too have long term plans to become an np, so i want to save where I can. What is comes down to is that my heart wants to go to msmc, but my brain says go to csun for the cost...

leviola: if you had to choose between msmc and csun, which would you ultimately choose?

I wish it were that simple, but they are 3 upper div gen ed classes ONLY from a CSU school -- which myself and levoila do not have cause we went to either private or uc schools...

levoila: that is SO lame. So, that means we would have to take 3 extra classes the 4th semester. I am sure it could be done, but that is in addition to epid and the second half of title v -- for me! That seems stressful and maybe not even do-able in only 4 semesters...hmmmm, how does this affect your decision process???????

levoila: so, what if the upper division 9 elective units do NOT include title v or epid, will you still lean toward c sun? it seems like incorporating 9 extra units will create quite a hardship on an otherwise tough a-bsn program...

yes, same here. from the title v, i am missing history and the only other thing is epid. However, do you have a csu degree? cuz if not, we STILL need 9 units of ELECTIVE coursework at csun to get the a-bsn!!!!!!!

mnguy and levoila: did you notice if your original ba/bs is not from a csu school, then 9 units of elective upper division gen ed courses must be taken before csun grants you the bsn!!!!!!! could epidemiology and title v count for that??? I doubt it...that is a bummer, that means for me with a degree from usc, the csun program would be more like an extra semester on top of the 15 mo's!!! also, did you guys hear from csula yet?

jbaclig, I do not think that a double major in Health Science will give you an advantage getting into the ELMN program as it is a program designed for those with an undergraduate degree unrelated to the health sciences. However, if the major requires you to do classes that happen to be the prerequisites for the ELMN program, then yes, it will be an advantage because you have to do those prerequisites to get into the ELMN program anyway...that's my

I really am praying I get a call or email for an interview, but I am having doubts now. Everything on my app is top notch, although I fear my TEAS scores are not as high as I would have liked them to be. Does anyone know how much the TEAS weigh in on the app evaluation and if one of the four categories is lower than 70th nat percentile -- altohugh it still was individually 90%!!!! --, if the app is still even considered??? Yes, they say April is when decisions are sent. So does that mean interviews are in March? Also, I read the last years csun a-bsn posts and it seems they weren't interviewed and notified until the END of April. I need to know by the beginning of April at the latest to get organized!!!!Do you think we will really be notified of decisions by the beginning of April???
