I graduated from Delta October of this year. I just took my state boards two weeks ago and passed. This week I got a job at Our Lady of the Lake in post-op surgery. It is not about where you went to school but how bad you want to learn and become a nurse. You have to apply yourself and try to learn as much as possible in clinical. I never heard anything bad about Delta other then it's location in a older part Baton Rouge. But don't let the old buildings fool you...you will learn a lot there if you want to. The instructors are very knowledgeable. Also there are a lot of rules and you have to wear a nursing cap:( I am glad I went to Delta, it helped me reach my dream of becoming a nurse and now I am going for my RN. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!!!! :heartbeat:redpinkhe
  2. I understand how you feel....I am a new graduate LPN and I start my new job in Post-op surgery on January 5th. I will have a preceptor for 12 weeks but i am sooooo scared. I don't feel confident enough in myself. I am so afraid that other nurses will get annoyed with me b/c I do not know something. I know I am being paranoid but this is the first real job I ever had. More then anything I want to be a good nurse. Does anyone have any advice for me? My nurse manager said that the unit is going to be a very fast paced unit, it mostly consist of abdominal surgery, what do you yall think I should read up on. Thank you so much for any advice !:loveya:
  3. i just wanted to let everyone know that i passed:) it is such a relief. i can now start to pursue my dream of finally being a nurse and getting my rn :heartbeat:yeah:this year! thanks y'all.
  4. I just took my NCLEX-PN today and I am soooo nervous. I graduated 2nd in my class and I still felt as though I knew nothing. It was a horrible feeling. I studied my NCLEX-PN Meds Pub book, NCLEX-PN Davis, and my school had us take the HURST review before graduation back in October. I felt like I could not be prepared for all the questions I received. I had a lot of priority based questions that were very hard/select all that apply. My test cut off at 85...two of my other classmates took the test last week and both got 85's and passed. I am praying I do! I cannot imagine having to wait 90 days to retake this exam! Please pray for me and I will pray for y'all.
