Any Books Recommended for bio A & P for self study before I take the course?
yes I am going to NHCC...since I had not been to school in years ( a regular college anway), I had to take the assement test first, so they recommended that I take some generals before I even take prereqs...I just finished taking: your first year experience and and English course..Ihave to take another english writing course and the computational math course starting next week...and then all that will be left is some other english course they said i have to take ...Then I have the prereqs...Im trying to take 2 classes each semester. i do work fulltime. I wasnt sure if i should wait to take AP because I know I heard they expire within 3 years if you apply to a nursing program...can you give me some insight on this. Im so happy that I you replied...and are willing to help me get through the muddy waters? are you taking your prereqs now?

Any Books Recommended for bio A & P for self study before I take the course?
Does anyone have any books or materialas that are recommended that I can buy to study and prepare myself for my biology classes? I am pursing nursing but am taking generals right now and wont be taking bio A&P until about a year from now. I would like to prepare myself to succeed in those classes so that I can earn good grades.l I have heard that A & P is challenging and a lot to remember. I just want to be prepared the best way I can. Thanks.

Please help me decide!!!??? Im stressed out! Rasmussen College or NHCC
Yeah that makes sense...Ithink Im going to just stay where I am. Considering the fact that with Rasmussen, you have to take the Hesi test to be accepted. And pass with 80%. They have a study guide and the test is 65.00. then once you have passed the test, you have to meet with a group of nurses to see if you are nurse material. There is a waiting list for them also. They only accept 12 students per quarter and they suggest you take Medical Assistant courses while you wait..I asked the admissions rep why only so little students and she said that they get about 200-300 that apply but when they have their nursing interview, so many don't go on to sign up for the nursing class because they have a barrier in the English language! Not sure if I want to put stock in that...Yes the school is expensive. Especially if you have to keep taking the Hesi test over and over because you did not pass..its like buying time. I might as well stay where I am an not rush this.

Someone please tell me the better router to take for nursing school...I currently attend NHCC for my generals which will take about 4 years to complete because I have to work fulltime...... Or I was thinking about Rasmussen College they have a nursing program but you have to take an assesment test first and then take the HESI test to see if you are eligible for their nursing program which they do allow you to study for.... then they only allow 12 students in their nursing program per quarter. there program seems quicker. but Im worried about the HESI Test...has anyone ever taken it? Rasmussen is probably shorter because they are more career based I need some help with the best route..I dont want to be in school forever to taking generals...only to find out you still have to get accepted in NHCC's nursing program.

Where can an LPN work besides in a hospital or clinic?
Hello All...I am new to the site and will be pursuing a nursing career so I have lots of generals to take. I eventually want to become an RN (Haven't been in school in years over 15 years) I just wanted to know where can LPN's work without being in a clinical setting. I like deskwork myself. Does anyone have ideas on this? I know I will have to work clinical for a while to get my feet wet and get experience, but where can i go from there if I like doing paperwork? I have heard of some nurses working with insurance companies doing referrals and all. Just not sure. Please give me insight! Thanks:loveya:

Very New to Nursing...Still Taking Generals in Minnesota
Thanks. But for the sciences, you mean the biology and chemistry courses? Wow! that would be a bummer if they expire and I have to take those generals again. My next semester includes an english writing course and computational math. My college said I had to take those first because of my assessment test outcomes. Especially if I need to take chem..they said since I have been out of school for so long I'd better take it, plus my scores reflected that I needed it. I wish I could work part time...If my husband made a lot of money that would ideal

Very New to Nursing...Still Taking Generals in Minnesota
Hello Everyone, I am so glad that I found this website! I've been reading some of the post and I find this site to be very helpful. I am 40 years old, married with 2 children and decided pursuing a nursing career because I love helping people. I have enrolled the local community college and are taking my generals..(which will take me a while to finsh since I have to work a fulltime job to help support the family) So before I can enter the LPN program I have to have the preq's done. I am employed as a customer service rep for the local phone company and would rather help people in another dynamic. I do realize that nursing is an important job and it is a calling. I like to help people get well. I just have a couple of questions: I've talked to 2 women that started to pursue a nursing career and dropped out saying that it was too hard? Is that true? Im no brainiac kind of person. Are the nursing courses that hard? I know I will have to take chemistry as one of the preq's that they require plus the biology and all. I want to keep on going until i finish and then eventually get my RN degree. Also what kind of salary do Lpn's make? and what would be a good speciality to go into?. From what Ive heard, they dont make to much more than what Im making right now $35,000 per yer) Is that true? Or what depts can you make a little more being an LPN? Forgive me for all the questions...I'm just curious finally got up the nerve to ask questions. This will be a new chapter in my life!:redbeathe:yeah:
