  1. Congrats Mr. Tom! and we too are in the same boat. I am sick of sitting in front of the computer working on websites and signs, and business cards, etc. Before that I was an executive assistant for many years and got into web design because I couldn't stand working with baby executives any more and wanted to be there for my kids. I flirted with nursing about 19 years ago before I met my husband ( we met at our local comm college) where I was taking pre-reqs for nursing, but we had a family and the rest is history. I do not have my bachelors degree yet so I don't know how long this road will be for me. I am going to take classes on a campus because I need to get out of the house and I think classmate interaction/study groups will be good for me. I wish you so much luck and now I have a "partner" my age to share experiences with I hope, keeep in touch!
  2. Hello to all! Congrats, I am making the same choice next fall. I am finally going to finish what I started 19 years ago before my husband and I had children. I am 39 and will be starting a pre-nursing program in Chicago fall of '09 and I too have pre-reqs to complete, but I am so excited (and nervous) about this journey to complete my dream that I have deferred for so long. Now that the kids are older and are on What my husband and I call "auto-pilot", I have plenty of time to go to school during the day when they are in school and my husband is at work. I am very blessed to have a husband who is not only very supportive of my choice to continue my education, but has the income in these tough economic times to support us and yes, financial aid and loans help too! good luck to all of you who are older and starting back, I thought I was too old but I am so glad to see I'm not the only one!
