Question about Becoming a CRNA
ooo...but in the CRNA faq, it stated "Nearly all schools require one year of experience in an ICU before an applicant will be admitted to the program. Most will not accept ER, OR, or other experience (though a few programs are a bit more lenient)." Thanks everyone for all your replies! Very much appreciated!!

Question about Becoming a CRNA
I was wondering...and I hope you guys don't get offended by this question...but do RNs do a lot of "dirty" work (like cleaning up vomit and waste) or is that very minimal?

No Recertification Exam for CRNA?
I have read that CRNA need to recertified every 2 years, but they don't take any kind of exam. On the other hand, AA, who I have read do work very much similar to CRNA, have to take an exam every 6 years. Why this difference?

Question about Becoming a CRNA
Hello. Thank you for the reply. I have read the faqs before, but my questions refer to the 1 year of experience that RN nurses must have before they can apply for the nurse anesthetist school. I know that they have to work in an ICU, but I wanted to know what kind of work they do there. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Question about Becoming a CRNA
After getting a Bachelor's of Nursing degree, I know that you have to get a minimum of 1 year of experience in the ICU before you can apply for the nurse anesthetist schools. Since you are a RN that time, I wanted to know: 1) What kind of work do you do in the ICU? 2) Do RN's normally work in the ICU or can the employer assign them to other places as well (like, ER)? Sorry if those questions come out sounding dumb. I have just recently heard about the CRNA field. I appreciate any help.

thinking about becoming a crna. have some questions.
o wait..if you check out the CRNA faqs, they state.."CRNA's do anesthesia of all types. In school, you will learn about general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and spinal and epidural anesthesia."

thinking about becoming a crna. have some questions.
I'm a newbie on this stuff as well, but a lot of your questions have been answered already. Did you check out the CRNA faq? https://allnurses.com/forums/f16/read-first-crna-faq-26690.html As for the epidural stuff, I'm not sure..sorry...would anyone else like to fill in?

Need to shadow a CRNA
First topic on the forum! Yeah, I am also interested in this field, but I wanted to shadow one just to make sure I will really enjoy the work, but it is hard to find one to shadow. The hospitals I live around don't let me...it is just volunteering. I used to shadow doctors at Plainview, but they only allow volunteers in the ER. I don't know any CRNA either. I guess I'll just keep looking around. :typing lol
