Christiana Care Internships for new Grads
Hi All, I decided to take an offer at a community hospital in Philly so I withdrew from consideration before finding out if I got an offer from CC. Since I live in Philly I felt more comfortable taking a job here and waiting out all freezes at the major teaching hospitals rather than making a 2.5 yr comittment out of state. I feel really fortunate to have gotten a job at all. All I can suggest is to keep applying. Don't get bogged down in the negativity about the market-- if you put a positive face forward, recruitors will take notice. Also, make sure your cover letter and resume are MINT! Good luck to all 2009 Grads!

Working for Mercy
Hi All, I am seriously considering an offer to work in the Mercy Heath System. I love that they are so committed to helping the poor, but I am concerned about working for a Catholic hospital when it comes to reproductive rights and end of life issues. Has anyone worked in this system before? I know that Plan B and abortions are prohibited, but what about patient teaching and referrals if a patient wants information about what their options are? thanks

Christiana Care Internships for new Grads
Hi All-- I have an interview coming up for an ED internship. So does another one of my classmates. I was extremely surprised to hear from them given how flooded the market is right now with new grads. They choose RNs with less that 2 years experience as well as new grads which makes it even more competetive. I think having a high GPA and unique prior experience in healthcare or another career helps. I will let the community know what the interview is like... Has anyone out there gone through the internship program? What was it like?

North Philly
Thanks for the insight. The neighborhood is not a problem for me. I used to run the needle exchange program in Philly. Not only am I used to the situation in North Philadelphia, this is where I want to work. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, it is this population that needs help the most, but few people care. As far what they offer permanent nurses-- sounds like it might not be a good training ground for new nurses. Thanks, again!

Does anyone work for or know anything about North Philadelphia Health System?
