  1. We, too, have ATIs that we must pass each semester with a Level 2. Most instructors will give a small amount of extra credit we pass on the first attempt; however, for those that don't they're given two additional tries to attain level 2 (otherwise they must petition to repeat the course or beg with a really good excuse for a fourth try). I've found that the practice tests are a great study tool, and then trying to understand the rationale of the answers is a good strategy to prepare for the real deal (especially when you've got four things that all seem wrong). Then like the others said doing a focused review of the ATI material, which is even easier now that they have it online. Good luck!
  2. No it's pretty good competition, the students at the lower end of the TEAS range 84.1% + probably had a lot of bonus points (ie. volunteer experience, foreign language proficiency, and disadvantaged backgrounds). The average GPA in the last BSN admitted clinical group was 3.91 at CSUS. BUT, they currently allow unlimited TEAS attempts and take your highest score - though there's rumblings that they are going to fall into line with the other CSU's and limit TEAS attempts to two or three.
  3. My school (CSUS) does competitive admissions, so the range for the TEAS was 84-97 with the average admitted student score being 92. Good luck!
  4. Having the motivation and goal in mind is a tremendous asset in getting through school. A community college is a perfect place to do your pre-reqs. Sac State is having an information session on Tuesday May 26th 7p-9p for their nursing program, but that would be a great place to start for a background of overall information from an up to date resource. Best of luck!
  5. The best help comes from ATI directly. They make the test, and really their resources are only ones that are closely matched to the real thing. The study guide by far is the biggee, the real test is almost exactly like the study guide. Their were a few things in science that I'd never heard of, and was able to learn them from the practice questions and sure enough they were on my real test. Also, there's a lot of study practice questions for the grammar/etc. section with like 500 words that are commonly spelled incorrectly. Also, try their online practice test (from atitesting.com). You can do the online test twice. I found that because these so closely mirrored the real thing that they were a HUGE help when it came time for the real deal. Hope this helps.
  6. I sympathize with your concerns, my son is four (he was just 18 months when I went back to school). I'll admit sometimes it's tough when he's holding onto my leg telling me he doesn't want me to leave. BUT that doesn't mean I don't block out time to be with him. It is a challenge to balance school and life, work, etc; but, it's the kid(s) that really pull on your heartstrings. Even so I think about what a strong statement it makes about going back to school and finishing my college degree, and am somewhat hopeful that one he will see this as positive encouragement. We'll see, but I'm excited to be here. Best of luck!
  7. vixnnet ~ Orientation is 1/21 8:30-3:00 and 1/22 8:00-12:30. The email says there will abe instructions coming in a couple of weeks regarding the drug & alcohol tests as well as the background check, etc. 23 is possible, so hang in there - you have a crazy high number of points - I can't believe you didn't get it in (yet, fingers crossed for you). I almost think that more and more people are going to get scared away from CSUS Nursing based on the cutoffs, I really thought it would hold close to the high seventy neighborhood. Best of luck!
  8. Long time listener, first time poster, my condolences to all those fretting away on the alternate list - but remember I believe they only accept the first 50 and leave 10 spots open in case of errors. So I would say the top ten on the alternate list, I know its impossibly stressful but stay positive! To the those that received their acceptance letters I can't wait to meet you all next month! It's been a long hard road for everyone, and congratulations are in order!
