So sorry to hear this, I have only been in nursing about 2 years and I completely see where you're coming from. I hated it in the hospital and I felt like I had made a BIG mistake becoming a nurse. I have found a better niche for me though, and that is Home Health Care. I'm still not jumping for joy over my nursing career, but it does pay the bills, and Home Health is much less stressful, if you get with the right agency. Good luck to you!
  2. Thanks for everyone's comments I have stuck around with this company for about 4 months since receiving my RN and still no RN case's available, they pretty much only utilize RN's for SOC's and for that they require a year experience as a RN. So.... I have finally decided to move on and I have an interview tomorrow with a Hospice Company for a case management RN position and I am so excited!!!
  3. Hi, I am going in for an interview at an eye surgery center tomorrow and I was curious as to how you like it so far? Would you mind sharing a little about what you do and how your day goes? Thanks!
  4. Hello, I have been an LPN for about 2 years working for the same Home Health Care company for a year and a half, I recently graduated with my Associates degree and passed my boards to officially become an RN. I am still on my same case that I have been on, but is it wrong of me to expect a raise now that I am an RN. I mentioned this to the recruiter on my case and I was pretty much given the runaround about budget cuts and so on and that maybe I could expect a quarter raise... That felt like a slap in the face after going to school for a year and spending $25,000 to become an RN to be told that I may earn a quarter more! Keep in mind I have an excellent attendance record and have great rapport with the family. So my question is am I asking too much to ask for more than a quarter raise for going from LPN to RN but working the same case? And how do I go about negotiating a pay raise?
  5. I am a new grad and my first job is at a Long Term Acute Care Hospital. I have about a week before I go in for orientation and i was just wondering if there are any skills or meds or just any suggestions of things I should brush up on before I start while I have this week off. It's been about 2 and a half months since I've been out of school. And another quick question is the packet I received was to dress business casual for orientation, does black dress slacks and button up blouse sound ok? And the only closed toe shoes I have are high heeled pointed toe boots, you can't see anything but the bottom of the boot sticking out of my pants so should they be fine?
