  1. Grady says that you MUST have your actual license in hand to apply for the residency, no? meaning i can't do anything until after I take the nclex this summer, right? anyone know anything different/has anyone applied to their new grad program?? THANKS for all this info!
  2. Hi guys Looking at all new grad programs in the area as i'm desperate for a job. Anyone have any info on the gwinett or grady programs? gwinett seems to not have the opening listed and claims to be full, but i don't know when they start their residencies and what not. also, what's the deal with grady? i think you have to have your actual license before they look at you, but even then there's no where to apply? THANKS!
  3. i'm on the waiting list there, as i applied 1 day too late
  4. Hey guys- I'll be graduating this May, taking the NCLEX in July probably. I'm just now starting to apply for jobs/new grad residencies and am realizing i'm too late! Anyone know or recently applied to any place in the Atlanta area (I'm not picky, just needs to be close to the city!) that is hiring!? HELP! THANKS!
  5. Hi guys- I graduate this May, and i'm looking at residency programs for new grads. There are quite a few hospitals that allow you to go straight to the OR without any experience. WOuld you recommend doing this? i feel like it would limit me, but at the same time, i don't know if i really care!!
  6. last question: what do you know about the competitive nature of getting into the program and when do you find out if you're in!? i want to be sure to make other plans if this doesn't work out, and i asked the HR person when they typically let applicants know...and she didn't really have an answer!1
  7. thanks so much for the info! i just applied and am working on my goals statement now!! do you have any idea how competitive the seton program is? should i go ahead and apply to st davids or other austin residencys?? (what other new grad programs are in austin besides seton/st davids??) THANKS!
  8. Hi guys- So i've decided i want to move to Austin (from New Orleans) when i graduate (this May) and start a new grad program. Which hospitals in the Austin area offer these programs? Where would you guys recommend? When do i need to fill out applications, and when will they let me know if i get in??? Any info is welcome!! thanks!!
  9. so you won't scrub as much because you don't like it? and how does that work, as far as do you have the option to not scrub? also, does the internship include PACU and pre-op orientation? lol, i know i have a lot fo questions. thanks for your help!
  10. where are you doing your internship?? how is it going? part of me wants to do an internship this summer (i graduate in may), but the other part of me is scared it's going to be so intense! how much do they expect you to know???
  11. interesting opinions you guys have. which of the 2 do you think is more difficult to grasp?
  12. new to OR nursing-- so do the regular RN's actually do any of the hands on work in the surgery? i realize a lot of this varies hospital by hospital, by majority of the time, what is the case?
  13. mzjones- i'm in almost your exact position, except a few months behind, and would LOVE some advice! i'll graduate in may, taking the NCLEX in new orleans. i want to move to chicago and start working ASAP after that. i really wnat to do a new grad program, as they don't offer them in my state. timing-wise, how should i go about this? when do i need to start applying? and how long did it take you to transfer your NCLEX scores to IL? are you going to work in KY until you go to chicago in march? do you know if they are looking for other new grads at children's?? any help/words of wisdom apprciated!
