I have been accepted into the Accelerated BSN program at SUNY Downstate beginning this summer. I will be moving to NYC from out of state and was wondering if anyone could give me some information/advice about where to live while attending Downstate...I am a young female and I know that the area around the school is not particularly safe. Is it realistic to live somewhere like Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, or Prospect Heights and safely travel to and from the school? About how long would the commute on the subway be? Does the campus offer any transportation to the subway stations at night? Any advice would be appreciated!

I got my acceptance letter today! I am so excited. I am waiting to hear from one more school before I make my official decision. Downstate would involve a move whereas the other school I am waiting on would not.

I was just looking at the Downstate website and it looks like they have extended the admission deadline until January 30th...so it looks like we will have to wait even longer for decisions.

The application deadline is Jan.2 so we probably will not here back until Feb. at the earliest.

I have a question for those who have or are applying to SUNY Downstate: are our NET scores automatically sent to SUNY? I have not been able to find any information about this. When signing up with ERI for the NET I did select that I was taking the test for SUNY Downstate but I just want to be sure they get my results..

The deadline for Downstate is Jan. 2, so I don't think decisions will be sent out until closer to Feb.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I'm on the alternate list at the school I applied to...I was not told what rank I am but there are a total of twenty alternates. It is so frustrating, but I'm still hopeful that I could get in. I've gone ahead and applied to some more schools for Fall '09 in the case that I don't get in... Is anyone else an alternate?

Yes, I meant for Summer '09. Do you know what the composite score consists of? Is it just math, written expression, and reading? or are the science and testtaking scores added in as well? My score print out did not have a composite, it only listed each section individually.

Are you all applying to SUNY and NYU for Spring '09 or Fall '09? I am getting ready to send my application in for Fall for SUNY and may apply to NYU. I am on the alternate list for a program for spring '09 (so frustrating!) but decided to go ahead and apply to more schools for this coming fall. I just took the NET for SUNY last week and I have a few questions that I could not find answers to on their webpage...in registering for the NET through ERI are the scores automatically sent to SUNY? Does anyone know what score they are looking for for acceptance into SUNY? Thanks!
