  1. I've heard many more good things about FCCJ's nursing program than SJRCC (and about the school in general). Even a SJRCC nursing graduate recommended to me that if I hadn't started already, I should go to FCCJ. And I admit, I really do want to go there, and if I was half way in between schools (or even leaning closer to SJRCC) I'd want to go to FCCJ. But it's really hard when St. John's is literally 3 miles from my house, and my car is wonderful but old and I'd be constantly worrying about it breaking down and me having no way to get to school (if I had to, I could always ride my bike to St. John's). But hey, if I could find someone in my area who'd be interested in carpooling with me to FCCJ and our schedules were close time-wise, I'd wanna do that. =D
  2. Hi guys! I'm very sorry to be interrupting your thread - but I got a friendly PM from MissWhitney and it won't let me reply to her! I just wanted to tell her thanks for the PM, and yes I'd love to get into SJRCC's RN program, but I'm just starting my prereqs this January. =)
  3. I keep wondering where all the ASN jobs are, it seems everywhere I look in Jacksonville (just because I'm curious) you have to have at least one year experience and a BSN! The BSN is no problem, but it's difficult to get experience when every job up here wants you to have it already! And I wanted to find a job as an ASN that helps pay for you to get your BSN.
  4. I really appreciate you posting this topic, I've been wondering the same thing myself lately and even mentioned it to my sister. I live in northeastern Florida (Jacksonville) and absolutely love it. We live in a very safe area that's comfortable, close to major shopping but not too close to have to deal with the traffic. We have enough close by within 10 miles to keep my family content. Our sunsets are beautiful (I don't know too much about sunrises because I'm a night owl!) and I can't get enough of the beach during summer. I've been to a couple different cities in Florida though and noticed some of them (in my opinion) have prettier scenery...I wish we had palm trees up here. =( My dad lives in Atlanta and while I feel they do have a prettier Autumn than us, I couldn't deal with the cold and the hills can be pretty scary since Florida is so flat and that's what I'm use to. I think the schools just depend on the individual district. I've heard horrible things of the Duval county school system (my mom's godson goes to an elementary school in Duval and they don't even have a school speeding limit during school hours, cars can go 45 mph anywhere and anytime near the school and lots of kids ride their bike/walk!). But I've heard wonderful things of Clay schools and attended them my whole life, and I feel I got a great education...but they also have excellent ESE programs (my little brother is mentally handicapped) and do tons of out-of-school programs for them for free (my brother, through his school, has been fishing, camping, had a special Zoo trip day, among many other things). I agree too that I think it's just a preference of living places. Yeah, the humidity sucks and it's usually the only thing I complain about living here but you get use to it. And while I might want to live somewhere else when I'm older, I'll always love Florida and want to come back to visit often. =)
  5. Meeeee~! ^__^ Sadly I haven't even started my prereqs - I'm registering for the Spring term (early January) though! I'll be a lot calmer when all my registration stuff goes through, I need financial aid to go to school but they're requesting documents that I've already sent in! Grr...but it'll all be worth it soon!
