  1. For those that got accepted, I'm assuming you guys had an interview??
  2. Ms. Fortune, I wanted to double check with you as well regarding admission into the accelerated BSN program. I have been hearing different information regarding interviews. Can you please clear it up for me? For those of us that did not receive interviews, does that mean we did not get accepted into the program? The reason I am asking is because I just found out today that LATTC has canceled their second session of summer school. I have two classes left to take and am now wondering if I should be scrambling to sign up elsewhere (if I have a chance still with MSMC), or just take it in the Fall. Can you please advise? Thank you so much for your time. I know how busy you are! HER RESPONSE: To answer your question, the nursing committee will invite all qualified candidates in for a interview. The nursing committee considers the total application including transcripts, essay, letters of reference to make a decision. I hope that this helps. Joelle -------- I'm wondering if she meant "The nursing committee THEN considers the total application..." I'm assuming I was not a qualified candidate then? Anyways, I hope to hear next week. A lot of Los Angeles Community Colleges either canceled summer session or 2nd summer session. I rather not scramble to sign up for another course and just reapply next year!
  3. I am seriously confused. I called Nursing Admissions just a few minutes ago b/c I wanted to know if I should scramble and take my last 2 classes. If I didn't get in, I may as well take my time with it, right? Anyways, I asked if I did not get an interview, does that mean I did not get in? The girl said, "Not necessarily. Sometimes we just do the interviews if the applicant wasn't clear in their statement." She said letters should be mailed out this week or next. I emailed Joelle too so I'll keep you guys posted if I get a response!
  4. that's disappointing! i wonder why different people hear different things from them. i also wonder why they don't send out rejection letters for those of us that will not get an interview. i am so tired of waiting.
  5. Okay I think I see what you mean. I hear they calculate your GPA based on the last 60 units of your bachelors degree. Since you received that WU after you completed your degree, I THINK you're fine. I also have a few withdrawals on my transcript, but none that were the last 60 units taken. I hope it doesn't reflect negatively on me too.
  6. Hi Techie. When I attended the info session, they seemed very strict on the type of classes they would accept and not accept. Even if you do clear it verbally or via email with them, I would still be careful. In fact, they list a course (I think Physics) on their articulation agreement as acceptable when in fact it isn't b/c it does not come with a lab. As for your GPA question, when my friend applied to the program, she was told to retake a few classes to bring up her GPA. From what she understood, they were pretty firm on the 3.0 minimum GPA for this program. Otherwise, they encourage you to apply for the traditional bachelors or associates program.
  7. is everyone done w/ their prereqs? i still need to take microbio and re-take chem since it's more than 5 years old now. if there are any LA-area applicants, where did you guys take your prereqs? smc's science courses can be so hard sometimes!
  8. if you don't mind me asking, what time of the day did the two people receive their invites? just curious if i should be obsessively checking my email all day long. :)
  9. dms - hi! i stopped receiving notifications from this thread so im glad i checked today :) as for your question about the instructors, feel of campus, etc., it was excellent! i know i cant speak for the nursing program, but i can for the staff at the undergrad college & weekend college. every instructor i had was warm, highly intelligent and challenging. if it wasn't for my positive experience at msmc, i would definitely not have applied to come back. :)
  10. Whew! Mine was just updated today and my application is officially complete. Best of luck to all of us. I caught up on the last few threads. In case you are still interested, I am 30, so I guess I'm on the older end on this board! Also, someone mentioned the Doheny campus. I actually attended the Mount as a Weekend College student. I was able to be on both the Chalon campus (which is AMAZING) and then we were later transferred to the Doheny campus. I really loved the campus. So if we all get in, I'm sure you will be extremely happy there!
  11. Maybe you can follow up by the end of this week? I might do the same if it hasn't updated yet. Based on someone else's comments, they may have even lost our docs!
  12. I've been checking my WebAdvisor for the past 2 weeks hoping it'll update. So far all my transcripts and letters of rec are listed as "Send in immediately." Is anyone else having this problem? I sent in my materials back in February so I know it got there in time.
  13. Hi Leviola. It could be because when I attended, it was Araba who was handling the info sessions. Shortly after the April session, she left the Mount. But I agree, it would have been much easier addressing each question separately! I wish I would have known. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have been having problems getting someone from the office to call you back? I have a question regarding a Microbio class, but no one will return my call.
  14. Hi Tulips. I attended an info session April 2008 and wasn't told either about their preference for the essay. I did just one semi-coherent essay and submitted my app already!
  15. My sister checked my mail today and I received the bad news. I did not get in! Oh well, it's MSMC for me if they'll have me. My specs in case you're interested... Last 60 or 90 units gpa 3.9, roughly 3.5 prereq gpa. No hospital volunteer experience whatsoever. This may have hurt me.
  16. Hi ladies & gents! So I think the reason I haven't received my letter yet was b/c I have moved since I applied!
  17. hi everyone! i also applied to MSMC's ABSN for Fall 2009. im curious as well about when we should hear if we've been accepted/rejected.
  18. I applied for Fall 2009. I was wondering when we should expect to hear a decision by?
  19. StillHoping, I think what's hurting us this year is the large number of applicants due to the economy! Argh. I applied to MSMC's accelerated bachelor's program, but I don't think I'll hear anything until May/June since the app deadline is March 15th. Since my ultimate goal is to be a NP, I thought this might be a better route for me. We'll see...I hope to hear news tomorrow!
  20. you're too sweet, sarah! i wish i can genuinely believe that, but my "specs" aren't so great. i have zero hospital volunteer experience so i know that's going to hurt me. i also realized that i should have applied to more schools like CSULA, but stupid me just applied to 2!
  21. hello fellow nurses-to-be! i too have been following this board and planned on submitting a post upon receipt of a letter. i had my husband run home during lunch to check the mail, but didn't receive anything from ucla! so i'm wondering why someone from norcal received a letter already, but not me? i live less than 5 miles from ucla!
