  1. Working evenings in day surgery I feel like there is no support for those families in the waiting room and I get caught up in their drama. This is not fair to the patients and I need to reinforce that to the families that are constantly every 5 minutes bugging me to find information on why they are not out yet. This does nothing . Some are irate and I would like to call security ...maybe that is the answer. People need to take responsibility for their actions. Most people are scared ,nervous but controlled. It is the 25% that get outrageous and my hands are tied. It takes so much of my time to cater to them and if I don't they go over my head and it comes back at me the next day. Administrators are all over it but have no answers.
  2. I never replied before...hope this is correct... I am in the process of looking for a travel job...Have been offered one at Orange children's in CA but I have been reading and hearing a lot of things and hope It is not a nightmare...even the recruiter has filled me in on what to expect as far as attitude and housing and more.I am just going to take the leap

I have been a nurse for 27 years and have worked in many areas including Ltc and critical care. I like being in a hospital and fast paced world vs the routine of LTC but remeber that no matter where you work it is important that your fellow nurses support you and appreciate you and don't settle for less. Attitude is everything so put on a smile and work as a team
  4. I recently accepted a position in The ED at a local hospital and once there found out just how desperaten they were and that they can't seem to hold on to nurses, especially the experienced RN. I want to leave right away. I went to a staff meeting within the first 2 weeks and was horrified at the way the nurses were spoken to. No respect! Not a thank you or good job in the 2 hours we were there! What's up with this . And if I do move on I feel like I should say something to the director !!!
