Hi Tenderheart, You would need to call the NYS dept. of health(the home care licensure dept.) and ask them about the home care application. Once you get the application, it pretty much tells you what you need to do. Good luck.

Hi Sofia2009, No i haven't found anything yet. As a matter of fact, i'm bigining to think i should look for a partner because i'm in school full time and it's difficult for me to manage the business. If i don't get a partner, i might purse on it till i'm done with school. Which state are you if you don't mind me asking?.And where in the process are you? Thanks.

Hi dlsns2001 First you have to choose a name for your company and register at your local county's office. After that, go or call the department of health(the home care division) and inquire about how to get the application for opening up a home care agency. The application pretty much has all the instruction to help you. I started everything from the scratch, i never hired any consultant.I was always on line reading about stuff.It requires a lot of sacrifice and time. you might get a little frustated some times and even feel like you can't do but when that time comes, don't give up, if i can do it, so do you.Another hard part is the policy and procedure manual but you don't have to do that right away so you would have time to look into it. Right now you all you need is to choose a name for you company and then take it from there. It's a long process so would start now. It took me almost two and a half years and i just got done with my re- opening suevey few day ago and thank God i passed, i actually received my letter of approval in the mail today and my license should follow soon. Hi, If i were you i would focuss on just one at a time and then go from there. I started one from the scratch in New York State and let me tell you, it's a long process. I would either do the staffing or the home care agency,I wouldn't do both for now. Let me know if you need any advise.

does anybody knows what type of insurance i would need for my home care business. i just got my home care license and i'm getting ready to take clients and send aides out to take care of the client, i was wondering what type of coverage i wil lneed for my employees. also any advise on how and where to get refferals. the agencyis a non- medicare and so my clients are going to be all private. thanks everyone and happy holidays!!!

i am starting a home care agency in new york state in my home office.. i started form the sratch almost 2 years ago. i have been approved and i'm getting ready for a pre-opening survey. i'm very frustrated right now because i don't know what to do. the bad news is, i am a second year nursing student and i have 2 more years to go. because i need to hire a nure but of i am having a hard time finding a nurse and the state requires me to hire a nure before they come out to do the pre-opening inspection. i work in the hospital and none of the nurses are interested. the bottom line is i don't know what the heck i'm going at this point, i didn't think the application was going to be this much harder.my plan for going into this was to have like a small homecare business on the side whiles i go to school and work part time, neither did i know that it was going to be this huge thing. i mean i have done most of the hard part at the point but i feel like i cn't take it any more and i am on the verge to break down, although i hate to see the hard work i've put into this for the last 2 years go down the hill. does anybody has any advise? i really can use it. people had suggested that, i get a nurse as a partner but i don't even know where to get the partner. does any body knows how much you charge clients for service, rns and the aides, i have an i dea but i would also like to know what's out there. any idea on where and how i can get someone to help me set everything up.
