  1. Does anyone know of a company in Jax that I can take my stethescope to be engraved? My brother is a doctor and gave me one of his- I want to get my name on it rather than a name piece that attaches to it. Any suggestions?
  2. Wilkes 09~ it seems like you have a pretty busy day planned for Saturday so enjoy your morning with your family. We all will have plenty of time to get to know each other in the next couple months! It stinks that it's probably not going to work out but thats what happens when you try to coordinate with tons of schedules. It was worth the shot though =) It seems most reasonable to try to just organize something for after orientation~ we'll all be there and I'm sure by 4:30p we'll definately be ready for a snack and/or a stiff drink! I am not familiar with the northside area around campus at all so this is out of my hands to provide any suggestions... What are lunch arrangements I wonder~ buy something or bring our own?... I found out that JU's orientation has a BBQ for the new students!!! How jealous am I!?!?!?
  3. Shswimchik- can you meet on saturday instead of tonight? Wilkes 09 can't make it tonight and we want to try to include everyone who has been apart of this forum! We still need to decide on a time- I originally suggested around 2pm- does that work for everyone? Earlier... later...? Yes! I have proof of all mine to but it still has to be done! The paperwork (page 2 of the packet) states that you have to give them a copy of the actual lab report of a positive titer for Varicella, MMR & Hep B (or you can sign the declination form for this one if you wish- my doc says that for healthcare workers it is really important to make sure you get this because of the nature of our career) For tetorifice you have to have had it within the last 10 years as well as proof of the pertussis vaccine. If you haven't had pertussis then it comes in a vaccine combined with a tetorifice called Tdap. Really carefully read over the information from the packet for this so that you don't have to get poked more than necessary.
  4. Then Saturday works for me. If that works for everyone and there are no objections- then lets make that our day to meet up. I have a feeling the group will be small to begin with since there doesn't seem to be many of us on this site. So location? - still good for the Panera's at the Town Center - if not then where... if so, then what time?
  5. Yeah Wilkes! I like that idea too- I'm up for that after orientation!! Shoot~ I forgot you said you couldn't make it tomorrow. Well, does this weekend work better for you? Whatever concensous is- I don't care either way. I'm just excited to finally get started after all this waiting! I'm heading over to school today to drop off all my paperwork and to get a photo id made. Has anyone else turned in all their stuff yet? I wonder what happened to that email from Dr. Henning that we were supposed to receive like last week???...
  6. Well I'm glad you made it out ok! As far as the get together, I would really love to plan it for tomorrow evening if nobody has any other suggestions! Too late of notice or does this sound feasible?
  7. Yikes! You'll be fine! I had to get a lot of pokes when I had my physical last week- I just sucked down a bottle of water to get my mind off it--- Yeah thats right I'll admit- I'm a bit squimish around needles but only when they are being poked into MY skin! Of course- who isn't?!?!
  8. If there are any other suggestions on dates or times that might work better certainly post it. Of course we probably won't be able to include everyone at any 1 time... but at least we can try our best for those who are really interested in meeting up! Happy early Easter everyone!!!
  9. Ok great! Well not sure the best way to go about this but I'll start I guess by shooting out some dates/times... Maybe: Tuesday 14th (since thats the official deadline for paperwork to be in) ~6ish... or Saturday 18th afternoon~3ish---- any of those sound good or other suggestions. I'm pretty flexible. -Weekdays or weekends better? Any ideas for location? I'll throw out the suggestion of the Town Center Panera- seems fairly central...
  10. Same here Summerhopeful (gotta change that name now =) ) - I'm purchasing my on my own khakis. There aren't any restrictions on them as far as I can see so I imagine I'll just head to gap or something in the TC. I was actually really impressed with the quality of the shirts at Florida Specialty. I have to give them credit for picking cute shirts & they are soft material- KUDOS! The white uniforms on the other hand... I am NOT looking forward to wearing them at all--- tooooo much white!! Those suckers are going to get dirty soo easily! I'm so excited to meet you all at orientation! What about my idea for meeting up before hand? Still think it is still possible to put something together- pick a day and whoever is available can come out? With all the confusion of getting our paperwork together I totally forgot to follow up with that. Never too late though =) Anybody interested?
  11. I'm trying find some really good shoes in town. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good shoe shop that has some of those lovely white leathers we are looking for- and the requirements are that they have to be super comfortable! I went to The Walking Company & DSW in the Town Center- no luck. Anybody been successful at any of the nursing uniform stores in town?
  12. Im very anxious to hear that the Dean is going to say. Hopefully this email includes information about PPD testing that has already been completed as well.
  13. Sorry Shswimchik, not working for me either. I went to the Pride Rock holding website and there are no links that I could find either to round about to the FCCJ site. Has anybody called the nursing dept yet about date clarification for physical and PPD yet? Please post if you have called! UPDATE FYI: I just got a email message back from Crystal Porter saying that we have to wait till the 11th to have this stuff done. Anybody heard anything different? When is the official due date for that paperwork?
  14. FYI: The administration office is on the far left side of 1st floor building C- just go in and walk all the way back to the room number on your sheet =)
  15. Sweet! THanks, I'll be able to cross that off my list =)
  16. So nobody has had any problems going to school this week to pick up the chain of custody papers from admin? I have a long way to drive and don't want to get over there to find out that they are closed for Spring Break.
  17. Which FAFSA form do we need to fill out? The one for 2008-2009 or 2009-2010? The note says to check with the school to see which one needs to be filled out in order to cover summer classes. Has anybody done this yet?
  18. What is worksource? Can anybody tell me a little bit about it?
  19. Oh man... that sucks! I hope you are able to get everything straightened out soon. If I were you I would call and talk with a supervisor of the company- tell them your situation and that you gave specific instructions in the comment box of how to get employment verification information from your employer. Then push for a refund because you provided them the necessary information. It said something in the fine print that you would be charged an additional amount if you lived in different counties within the past x years not if they couldn't get a hold of your employeer- it took 3 calls to get a hold of my boss (so the results say). I also had a different last name (since I just got married) and they didn't charge me any extra to track down that information as well. Check your statements too to see if they actually charged your credit card- maybe the nasty lady was just bluffing =)
  20. How long do you think it took you to go to campus, pick up the document and then get the drug screening? Can you can the whole thing done in under an hour you think?
  21. I would just relax and wait till Monday. It would be rediculous to go through the physcial and TB test again just for 10 days or so.
  22. :lol_hittiWhat does that mean- that the correct dates are on their forms? If it wasn't done after April 11th then it was incorrect apparently...
  23. Just called the nursing department- spoke with somebody new--- here's what I got: According to her, the paperwork is due on Monday the 13th and apparently the physical exam paperwork isn't due until the 23rd- at orientation (certainly not written in our packet)- which she was pretty insistant about. I don't know about this folks but this is hot off the press. I'm only passing on what I know- I did change my appointment to the 13th though for the physical- I'm turning that in with the rest of my paperwork. And another point!! The PPD takes 2-3 days to marinate before being read- so if everything is due on the 14th- as page 2 of our packet says then are they expecting that the PPD be given on the Monday the 13th and read 3 days later or given the week prior so that it can be read on Monday. I have a feeling they will be singing a different tune when we call inquiring come Monday the 6th. Wish this week wasn't Spring Break... soooo many questions.... *Please take this infomation with a grain of salt. I would feel better once we confirm come Monday*
  24. So there are people in the nursing office this week? This is absolutely absurd! Are you kidding me- really 2 days!?! Additionally, how were you able to talk to somebody about the physicals if Crystal isnt back in the office until the 6th for Spring Break? Who did you talk to? Huckfin~ I'm in the same boat- I had my PPD done last week and my physical is scheduled for tomorrow (bloodwork completed)... What are you going to do?
  25. What are the guidelines for the photos?
