  1. Thank you so much for your response!! That is exactly the type of information I needed. I have a couple more questions, if you don't mind. Are your classes held at St. Vincent's or are they at the Jeff State campus? Also, have you experienced the disorganization that other PTers complain of in these threads? I do think that I could swing the FT program if need be, but I am separated from my husband, and I think it would be easier on my children if I could still be with them during the day. I have been lucky enough to stay home with them since they were born, and they are having a hard enough time right now without me being gone most days. I'm just trying to figure out what would be best for all of us! Thanks again for your response. Take care!
  2. I was wondering if anyone could give me some more information on the Jeff State pt program? Specifically, some idea of the schedule--is it weekday nights or weekends, or both? Reading these threads really scares me, but I have 2 young children, and I think it might be the best program for me to juggle with my schedule as well being able to keep my pt job. Any information you have is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :nuke:
  3. Hi! I now live in Birmingham, but did live in the Dothan area for 2 years. Of the cities you listed, Dothan is by far the largest and would offer the most to do as well as the most job possiblities. There are 2 hospitals there--Flowers is the smaller one, and Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) is a large, regional medical center. I delivered my son at Flowers and was thrilled by the care I received. The staff was incredible! Let me know if you have any more questions, and good luck with your search!
  4. I hope that you get some responses to your posting because I am wondering the same thing! In my case I need to get out and be earning a paycheck as soon as possible and then hope to go back after a few years to a mobility program. Also, does anyone know of any other LPN program in the Birmingham area besides Jeff St? From what I understand, the LPN program is only offered at the Jefferson campus and that would be quite a commute for me as I live in Shelby county.
  5. Thank you all for your responses. They have been very helpful. I am still trying to decide between the FT and PT program -right now I am leaning towards the day program. I had also thought about the LPN program just because it's shorter and would put me out in the workplace quicker, but I didn't realize it is only offered at the Jefferson campus. That would be too much of a compute for me. Thanks again for all your help and support! I'll keep you all updated on what I decide.
  6. I am a Mom of 2 preschool age children and in my early thirties. My husband and I have just become separated, and I am trying to figure out the best way for me to go about nursing school. I have a B.S. in Biology, but have been a stay at home Mom for the last decade. I need to go back to school in order to provide for my children and myself. After reading some of the threads on this board, I am very skeptical of Jeff State's program. However, the Shelby campus is close to me, and I would consider doing the St. Vincent's part time program also. I know that nursing school is challenging at any age, but would I be in over my head trying to raise my children and complete my classes? Anyone in a similiar situation such as mine? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help.
