  1. So far, I like Herzing's FNP program and have not had any negative experiences. The instructors have been prompt to respond the few times I needed clarification on an assignment. Also, the clinical coordinator can provide you a list of clinical sites they have used in the past (if you request). Discussion posts are due on Wednesdays and assignments or quizzes are due on Sundays. There are not any mandatory log on times. Some courses do require group projects. As with most FNP programs, the biggest challenge is securing preceptors. Also, I like that Herzing is a non-profit university that has brick and mortar campuses as some employers are biased against colleges that are exclusively online and for-profit.
  2. Hi Bosslady951, Please email me the letter to [email protected]. I'm currently in the Herzing FNP program and begin my clinical rotations in the fall semester. Thanks!
  3. You may receive more feedback from students attending Walden by joining some of the Walden student Facebook groups. Also, make sure that Walden is approved in your state. Good luck!
  4. I hope someone can clarify the following scenario for me: A surgeon was performing an arthroscopic acl reconstruction and deflated the tourniquet while preparing the graft. When it was time to re-inflate the surgical tech asked if I cleared the tourniquet prior to re-inflating. My response was no. I explained that I document the times that the tourniquet is deflated and inflated during the procedure but the machine isn't cleared until after the procedure. The tech went on to argue that it should be cleared each time it is deflated so the surgeon's tourniquet time will be accurate. I didn't clear the machine and continued with my circulating duties. At the end when the surgeon requested the total tourniquet time I answered by what the machine read. The tech subtracted the first time of 40 minutes from what the machine read and said that was the correct tourniquet time. Who was correct in this situation?? Thanks!
  5. Hi, Thanks for responding to the post. The assignment in Lompoc has closed. I'm planning on going to Bakersfield Memorial. Any input about the Bakersfield area is appreciated.
  6. Hi Everyone, Does anyone have any input regarding living in the city of Lompoc (safety, traffic, weather, etc). I'm considering a travel assignment in the OR at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. Thanks :)
