  1. NP with no experience vs. PA with no experience

I am about to enter an accelerated nursing program that could end with a NP if you choose to do one additional year. Given the market for new graduate nurses I have seriously considered this, but have read that a new grad NP with no experience will h...
  2. What kind of a person works Acute Care?

Columbia told me in 2007 that they had a 100% job placement rate for their direct entry np's (in np roles). I suggest you shadow. If you are planning to switch it probably really dosent matter
  3. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

In 6 months you will no longer be a new grad and costing the hospital money, you then qualify for the higher wage. I think you are very out of touch with the new graduate situation in some parts of the country by the description of your current posit...
  4. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

It is the norm for these majors because like nurses they require extensive training upon graduation and the supply>demand. And this isn't the organizations..this is new graduate nurses who want this. I would rather work for 7.50/hr for 6 months a...
  5. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

Do you also feel that finance/comm/enginering major who take unpaid internships the year after they graduate college are devaluing themselves? Im really just trying to understand this logic. I just dont understand no job vs. job with training wage fo...

  7. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

What would you do if you didn't have that job, and every job required 1 year experience??
  8. Villanova's BSNExpress, Drexel's ACE, or Jefferson's FACT?

Current Jefferson student so may be biased. I think the program is wonderful. I choose it over Drexel because - automatically accepted in their master portion - do not have to go clinical site the night before - it is a month longer because u get 2...
  9. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

take time off/vacation...untill the next batch of new graduates come out and it gets even tougher? or till the the nursing shortage happens in 2020? You pay to work in clinical..were talking about minimum wage during a training period.
  10. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

So the finance, communication major etc. who do unpaid internships after college are also devaluing their education in your opinion? To not use the education because you cant find employment devalues it more then working for minimum wage during a tra...
  11. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

Will McDonalds give you the opportunity to make 20-30/hr when you shed the new grad label..no. We want to be nurses..spent 1-4 years in school to get this far..and are willing to work at a low wage for 6 months to get to the final goal. The opportun...
  12. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

The people who disagree seem to be the ones who have jobs. I feel the new grad nurse who has loans to pay and every job needs one year experience...will be more then happy to work for a 6 months on training wage I really hope hospitals start doing th...

I had a friend very driven like you. She graduated high school in 3 years. College in 3 years(U of DE-very easy to do with winter session). And is now in optometry school. She will be an optometrist at the age of 23. I think you need to decide wheth...
  14. New Grad - Offering to Work for Minimum Wage?

I think you should do it. People who graduate with architect and visual communication degrees always do this. Work for free to eventually get into a paying position. I would do it, and have thought about it before, I think it is a smart idea to at le...

PA's are making their way into the NICU's. I think their is maybe one neonate residency for PAs- correct me if im wrong. I have a friend who went to PA school, she got to scrub in 7 times their whole month surgical rotation and got to close 4 of tho...
  17. Differences (Educative/Clinical) between NP & PA

Maybe i'm biased being a future direct entry NP but dont the 1000 hours in RN clinical count for anything? What about the fact that a NP picks a specialty ? It a joke that PA's work with neonates? I mean they only have one peds clinical..maybe an el...

While competition may increased the actual experiences of a entering class Many schools on that list that actually do require- accept "volunteering" PCOM, Drexel & Arcadia...are ones I know of from my area who I have had friends attend directly o...
  19. A personal NP vs PA debate

I believe that their is more "no experience" students right out of undergraduate going into PA school then direct entry NP But even if that is not so...MEDEX is definitely a misleading exception...many PA schools require 500 hours of "volunteering" o...
