  1. I quit nursing to stay at home with my children. Planned on going back and we had surprise child #3. :) I actually went inactive for about a year because my son was diagnosed on the autistic spectrum. Currently I do keep my CEU's up to date. Now I'm scared to death to go back! But I'm checking into a refresher course.
  2. I have been out of nursing since 1998 and I'm worried that my skills won't be up to par, but am interested in getting back into nursing. Hospice has always been of interest to me, since I had a grandmother that received Hospice care in her home. I was in nursing school at the time and I remember the nurse gave our family so much comfort. My question is.....How long of orientation do Hospice centers offer before letting you out on your own. Everyone keeps telling me that all of my skills will come back like "riding a bike", however, I'm not that confident! :)
  3. Yes, I haven't worked in almost 7 to 8 years in the clinical setting.........I've always been faithful about keeping my hours up to date.........and thought I had my hours up to date this cycle too..........but I got an audit letter today, and I went to pull my CEU stuff out. Well, I did some very part time chart auditing a couple of years ago and did some additional CEU's for that job. So for the 2000-2002 cycle I got well over my 20 hours and the last 29 I did I did on the tail end of 2002 (in May). So when I renewed my license this year I was thinking I was current because the date was 2002............Well, it needs to be from Aug 2002 - 2004. So I am royally screwed! What in the world do I do? I seriously have thought about going inactive, because I highly doubt I will ever return to nursing. I basically have kept my license and CEU's current for an emergency.......in case I HAD to go back to work in the event that something happened to my husband. My youngest child was finally diagnosed with autism this last month and we have been dealing with that for the last year.........so it is very unlikely that I will be returning to work. I guess I'll just call the TX state office Monday and see where to go from there..........Has this happened to anyone else? I can't believe I've had this oversight.......but I've just had a lot on my mind and without working this certainly hasn't been on the the front of my mind. Thanks for any insight............Calemjess
  4. Sorry, I cannot offer any advice, but I am in a similar boat. I have been on the look out for a job (part time). I worked over 5 years in Neuro ICU and have been out of it for about 7 years. I feel like I need a refresher course. If you find any good information.......send it my way and I'll do the same. I'm in the East Texas area. Kim
