  1. Hi Tex 201! I start in two days! Did you have your pinning ceremony last Friday? I was going to go but I got busy unpacking! I'm nervous about how FAST this program is and the heavy workload but I must remain positive!
  2. Hi Tex201, I'm starting the program in October. I'm sure you've probably heard but the July cohort was canceled so the administration could reevaluate the program. I read your reviews and it made me extremely nervous to apply/attend Roseman. I explained to the interviewers about the reviews I read online and all the negativity being expressed about the program. I was told that they extended the program by about 3.5 weeks to include scheduled times with the instructors to answer questions the students have. Do you think that will be helpful? My main concern thus far after reading your reviews is about students passing exams on pure luck! Do you have any suggestions on how to better prepare for the unexpected? any tips for success in this program? Anything that will help increase our chances of success? I will be sure to pass them along to anyone I meet! A few other questions about the program: 1. Did you buy ebooks or hard copies? Can you provide pros/cons of either? 2. Do you know of any additional books that would be helpful? 3. Can you give me an idea of how many hours per day you spend studying? 4. Are there any instructors to be worried about? :) 5. Do you have any suggestions on areas in Las Vegas to live? :) Thank you for providing your reviews! Best, Ashley
  3. Hi all, I went for my interview with Roseman on June 20th and haven't heard back yet. I was told on Monday that no decisions have been made yet but I'm just wondering if anyone else was interviewed on June 20th and has been accepted to the Oct '12 cohort???
  4. Hi Tex201, Thank you for your response! My main reason for applying to Roseman is because including prerequisites, I've been working towards this for the last 7 years. It took me 2.5 years to do prerequisite work and I've been on waiting lists for the last 3 years. Your posting was very detailed and it gives me an in depth look as to what I should expect and honestly, it sounds EXTREMELY overwhelming! However, the benefit to me seems to be the trade off of getting in and out in 15 months. But, aLos if only 40% of the students in your cohort have survived to the point you are at-it might not make sense for me considering the financial commitment. I consider myself a reasonably smart person but I can't afford to become apart of the 60% who haven't made it through. This is a lot to think about! I'm amazed that you'd only get 9 study days to get through pharmacology! I'm taking it right now in a 6 week course and that is intense. I guess I will have to give this more thought. I plan to attend the interview and will wait to see if I get accepted to decide. How long do they give you to accept their offer? Thank you again for your honest response and best of luck in finishing your program! -Ashley
  5. Hi all, I'm flying out for the interview next Wednesday and I was REALLY excited about it until reading the previous comments! I'm a little nervous about this program - it's not so much the workload because I can put in the hours! My main concern is that if I do have questions, is there help available? I know one person mentioned heading up to the main campus and asking for help there, but is there any other help available? Additionally, some of you mentioned that the program goes so fast that you are unable to fully grasp the concepts and it's out of pure luck that you pass! Can you give me an idea of a typical week in the program? I went through an accelerated program for my 1st bachelor's and I was successful while working full time. Prior to reading these comments, I believed that if I do nothing but eat, sleep and breathe this program-I should be fine. I am absolutely dedicated to doing well in this program but some of the posts make it sound like its essentially impossible to learn anything in this program. I could be misinterpreting your postings so I do apologize! I'd really just like to get an idea of what I could be getting myself into! Also-if I am accepted to the October '12 cohort, I'll need a roommate! :) Let me know if you are interested! Thank you, Ashley
  6. I'm getting a little discouraged. I feel like just about every nursing program I look at says you can't retake prerequisites, you can't get any C's, you need a certain GPA, yadda yadda yadda! Well I have about a 3.0, I work full time and I'm trying to jam through my prerequisites as I initially slacked off b/c I was young and immature. In any event, I'm wrapping up my Physio and Micro, I have to take a math class and another Chem class before I start applying to Bachelor programs - so my question is where can I apply if I've had to retake a prerequisite course, if I don't have the greatest gpa... One option was to transfer to a University and get a bachelor's in something else...as I'm just about ready to transfer (next semester) and then go through a ABSN program? But are ABSN programs really competitive? If you could provide any ideas it'd be much appreciated! Any and all suggestions are welcome!!! :wink2: P.s. any suggestions you can offer to help me "increase my chances" of getting in SOMEWHERE, that'd be great too! :)
  7. first off, i think i know exactly how you feel...so you're not alone. i'm not married to my boyfriend but we've been together for 4 years now and it feels like we're married. we have 3 dogs together (not children but it feels like it). we moved away from my family to live with his family and he's very closed off like your husband is. i feel like i'm talking to a wall when i'm talking to my bf. i feel like he's not supportive and completely shut off emotionally, when i try to talk to him he just says something rude that hurts my feelings to get me to go away. i've heard the "if you don't like it than leave..." and i'd leave but it isn't that easy, i don't have a job or a place to live back home and i have three dogs to take with me...it isn't that simple to leave plus i love him and i'd like to make it work. in any event, in reading your posting it was comforting to know that i'm not the only person in the world dealing with a situation like this. but i'd like to just say two things: 1st, if you really love your husband and you want to make it work, keep trying. read books, go to therapy, do whatever you feel you need to do to make it work. and secondly, and this you may not want to hear...but if you think you "can't" take it...then don't. some people just aren't meant to be together. what is important to me isn't at all important to my bf - he said to me once that he wants to be with someone who lives their life and he lives his and his family is very much like this. his parents live together half time, his oldest sister and her husband don't live in the same town...they take care of themselves, they don't really offer support to each other, they don't really have "intimacy." and that's fine for them, but personally there are certain things i think i need. so i either have to learn to live with it and accept him for who he is...or don't. easier said than done...but whatever you decide, you will be fine.
