ICU RN becoming an ER RN
The kids fear takes time to get over. I hated ICU loved the ER. It just depends on your personality. Some ICU nurses I know absolutely hate the ER, both are different. Similar but different. Good luck.

Pt. Falls
Last night I had a pt. fall that literally scared the crap out of me. I felt like such a bad nurse, which I know I'm a good nurse, yet anything something happens like that I take it personally. My guy came in for a syncopal episode, I charted he was unsteady and, and a fall risk. I made sure he had his slip guard socks. Call light in reach and bed alarm on earlier. He basically refused to use the urinal because he could not urinate sitting or lying and wanted to walk to rest room. Pt. was starting to feel better so I assisted him to the rest room 2 times. Some time in between the X-ray and maybe going to bathroom again the bed alarm did not get turned back. I think the ER might have forgot to. When he got back X-ray. I also had a lady who was peeing every 20 minutes. It seemed like and was going on and off the bedpan. I literally just got done putting my other pt. off the bedpan. Went to sit down and chart. Heard a bang, I ran into room and there was my pt. laid out on the ground bleeding from his head. Had a lac. Luckily no head bleed or major Complications. First thing the charge said to me was why wasn't the bed alarm on, I told her, I don't know if I forgot to turn it back on or what. I realized later the last person to put the pt back in bed was the ER tech I felt absolutely horrible, for not reassessing the bed alarm, when I placed the pt. back on cardiac monitors, and I felt like every positive thing or good nursing I did just went out the window. I seriously wanted to cry. I never thru the tech under the bus because in all actuality it's my responsibility. It was horrible I was all flustered and upset. I have came from a trauma unit, and also have dealt with multiple critical pts and fragile situations, but this really upset me. Any suggestions on preventing falls and not taking stuff like this so personal.

Leaving the ER full time
So inhale, and breathe! I'm leaving my full time ER gig, to go to TELE!!! Ugh, I almost want to vomit just saying it. Ok honestly I have worked tele before so I know what's ahead. I'm leaving not just for a better 12 hour shift on days, from 8 hours nights, but because at the ER I'am at we hold observation patients for about 24 hours so you constantly can have 3 tele pts and one room constantly turning over, or even worse 3 rooms totally turning over and tele pt. who is confused and falling out bed!! It's insane, is this seen in other EDs? This is the first ER I ever worked at that had this! Also, Im tired of nights 8 hour nights just don't cut it, has anyone ever made the ER to tele transition, ps I'm still keeping my ER per diem, just in case

He is just old!!!!! so hold your dads damn urinal yourself as*hole" Venting done

Nursing in California
She must work for a "corp"In SF I have some RN acquaintances who say they are "close " to that much in SF and per diem ...but I'm in CA and I have 1-1/2 year experience in Central Valley and I don't make that...most make anywhere from 30-50, i heard some make high 20s in southern CA good luck finding a job making that much ...let me know where I submit my application lol jk...I actually got offered a job in SF but I would rather make less and be closer to home, I did all my schooling out there and would Hear RN's make that, but it's hard to get a job out in East Bay and in SF

So I'm thinking about applying here to the RN-BSN online Program ....I need Statistics!!! I'm so not a math person I was wondering did anyone take the Stats online and how did they like it? How was you over-all online experience with UTA ? are you happy there? I live in California so I know the Texas politics class is going to be a doozy for me but I'm still really thinking about this college! Thanks

Working 2 jobs both ER RN, crazy or do-able ?
I work at a fast paced ER stirring to a Trauma 1 center, full-time, mid-shift and for the county. I like our team I just don't like the pay, the cost of out pocket health benefits and lack of staffing. So, I went interviewed for a private facility, ER (basic), better pay and excellent benefits! night shift. I kinda of want to go per diem at the county but I'm scared the manager will get up set that I'm leaving because we have loss like 5 RN's in the past month, and will say I can't go per diem. I actually don't want to miss out working in a trauma 1 center, and I do like the fast pace. I also just started the ER about month ago but has worked in the hospital for almost 2 years. Do you think working 2 jobs as ER RN worth it and do able! I don't want to resign all the way at the county, but I have to think about the benefits of leaving. Help this hard!!!

Working in the Float Pool as a nursing student
I have been in a Floater for a year +, I would say yes you get experience and can see all the drama an different personalities of each floor. You do get hard patients and assignments some floors will totally dump on you! It is hard. I love te float at times because I'm not to one unit, but at other times I hate it. I say the float pool is okay but I wouldn't want to stay there forever.

Why is it okay for Doctors to yell at Nurses?
Well I have had a doctor and team of interns very irritated with me because I was falling behind on their numerous orders for the fresh admission with zero help from other staff! I think if a patient is on a medsurg floor then they need to order as accordingly. They want ICU care on a MedSurg/tele budget .....it's ridiculous, and then they have nerve to get frustrated or "yell" (speak with attitude) towards you because you aren't moving quick enough!!! I think all MD's should be required to work the floor... really see it for what it is really like! Yeah, I only have one crazy lady, two Blood transfusions, and one critical pt who is in Extreme SVT .....yeah sorry I'm not giving your pt...1:1 care...kiss my ass! The problem Is MD's wouldn't know because they don't do it...making up and writing orders are easy and half the time were the ones who call them when they write the damn order wrong!!! Please if your going to be ass know your damn Digoxin! Really

Do you have a set schedule?
Pm shift and I write my own schedule depends on what I write lol

I'm super depressed I was suppose to get an ER position at a hospital but then it fell threw because an internal candidate made a big fuss that she wasn't interviewed! Then I applied to my own hospital but didn't get!! Because HR screwed me over ! I really want to be in the ER but I feel like its never going to happen at least I still get to work there sometimes as a floater.
