  1. Did any of you get into the program and took your prerequisites at a school other than Mercer??? i was mainly wondering if i can still get in if i took them at GPC. thanks in advanced.
  2. i was wondering if you have an ADN and go for your BSN do you still have to do clinical rotations???
  3. I'm just wondering about how long is a CAN course and what does it consist of??? Thanks for your info.
  4. You could always apply for both and go to a CC to do preq's that's are required for both schools while you wait for your acceptance and then transfer the classes to which ever school you go to
  5. How many classes were you taking and how much was each credit hr? And how much did you spend on book and for how many books. Thanks in advanced for the info.
  6. In my opinion if you're not strong in science then you should take 1 at a time. And at my school you can't take 2 at a time if you wanted too. But if and only if you think you can handle it I say go for it
  7. Thanks for all the support.
  8. Thanks. What are typical work/shift hours for CNA's and Techs?
  9. Do techs do IV's?
  10. Thank you all for your info, its very helpful. If any of you are an RN did you find being a CNA or a Tech first helpful for you during clinicals and transtioning to RN status? Does being a CNA make it easier to become an RN and gain the basic nursing skills?
  11. How much did you make and hour as a cna and as a tech, if you don't mind me asking.
  12. Do you know how long I'd have to be a CNA before I can be tech? And thank you for your info.
  13. Hi, I posted something similar to this a few weeks ago, but I came across something that made me confused again. I'm wondering what the difference is between a patient care assistant (PCA), a certified nursing assistant (CNA), a patient care technician (PCT), and a certified medical assistant (CMA) or (MA). I've had people say that they're the same and it depends on location and hospital. So my location is Atlanta, Ga and I've come across a school that has a PCA, PCT, and MA courses and none of the classes are the same for these seperate courses. I'm wondering which pays more and what the difference is if anyone knows. Thanks. P.S....in addition to which pays more which would be best to go for if I want to get basic knowledge and skills for the nursing field. I was hoping to become one of those while I go to school for prerequisits for the RN program. Thanks. Your info is much appreciated.
  14. Thanks for all your info. I really appreciate it.
  15. Thanks for responding, if everything goes well I probally won't need the loans after all
  16. I'm wondering if anyone is taking out loans all through out their prereq's and nursing school? I was thinking about taking out loans to help with extra expenses but I'm not sure if it would be good idea to do it for the prereq's.
  17. Thanks, I appreciate your comment
  18. I'm at a community college right now but I don't have internet I'm not sure I can afford it yet. My boyfriend supported me for 5 months because I didn't have a job so I'm not going to abandon him the plan was I'd go part time at my and he pay the bills so I can focus more on school and be a full time student. I appreciate the support, luckly my school has weekend classes available so I know I can at least take 1 class
  19. So do I. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how I'm going to pay all the bills, my checks are less than rent. I was thinking about taking out loans I know a few people said they did that while in school to pay their bills.
  20. Thank you soooo much for your info. Although its still hard I don't even know if I can afford the internet at my house.
  21. Well today my boyfriend got laid off from his job so basically I'm the sole provider now until who knows when since the economy has fallen severely. I was wonding if and one is taking their prerequisites online or going to regular classes while working a full time job? I work 3-11 mon-fri and I'm really upset by the fact it may take me awhile before I can stary school especially after all the crap I went though to get all my documents that were 1000 miles away. Where did you find study time and how many classes a semester did you take? Was it online or in an actual class? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  22. I know there are 15 prerequisites listed for GPC, I was wondering did anyone take all 15? And if not what were the classes you did take before you got into the nursing program? And is there anyone taking some of the classes online? I'd appreciate any info you can give me, and thank you in advance.
  23. Try seeing what some of the Suny schools offer and some of the medical colleges also. Not sure about Boston though.
  24. It depends on how much you want to spend. If where you're going is a community college than I'd say take the prerequisitions there. I start my prequ's at GPC in january and I'm going to take the Nursing program there too for an AND that way when I transfer to go for my BSN I won't have too much to worry about because I'll be and RN already.
  25. How far is Gordon College from Decatur, Ga?
