  1. I am currenty employed on an oncology unit-i recently took some time off close to about 3 months because i took the nclex but did not pass it. Prior to that i worked their about 2 1/2 months with a preceptor. Now that I passed the NCLEX I called my manager and told her the good news. She told me she would give me 3 days with a preceptor and I would be on my own after that! Do you guys think that is fair? I worked my first night last night and don't think I am ready to be on my own just yet! I with I can just start all over again fresh and new but I know I can't. Is it fair for me to ask for more time? Or should I just be on my own and go with the flow? I am so nervous!! Thanks for the input!!

  3. GOOD LUCK!! Sending good luck vibes your way!!!!
  4. After taking the exam failing the first time and finally passing the second time with 85 questions! I wanted to try and give some tips to anyone out there studying for the exam. Just some helpful pointers---some not ALL! 1. Know the effects of fluid overload and dehydration! 2. Know positioning of clients. 3. Know the effects of hypocalemia, hypercalemia, hyponatremia...etc. That is very important! 4. Know the different types of respiratory conditions ie. COPD, asthma. 5. Know your math conversions ie gms -mg. 6. Know the different types of hepatitis diseases. 7. Know priortization!! (very important). 8. Know lab values!!!! ie specific gravity of urine etc.... 9. Kaplan was very helpful!!! 10. Pray to God every day that He gives you the knowledge you need to pass this exam. Once you are all done and pass you can throw those INDEX CARDS AWAY AND BURN THE BOOKS!!!!!! That is what I did!!! :roll :rotfl: GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!
  5. I just wanted to take a minute to let you guys know that there is hope!! Just when you think you CAN'T DO IT!! Pick yourself up and know that if you put your mind to it and REALLY WANT IT it will happen for you! I took my exam in November and failed and felt like my whole world collapsed. I felt like I let my parents down, my husband, my kids....it was terrible. I knew it wasn't a good time to take it because I had just moved from one state to another and the timing was just off. But I had to because I was already working as a Graduate Nurse. For all of you who have families know that trying to study and take care of children is rough! ( I was pregnant in my last semester of nursing school) it was hard!!! But through all of that I conquered a goal of mine that is to be a Nurse. If you have to take the test again believe me as hard is it to tell your co-workers you failed! or your family! whomever!!! It is not the end of the world! (Half the nurses you work with failed the first time also They just don't tell you. That is what life is all about picking yourself up, brushing yourself off and succeeding till you get it right. There is hope for you!!! Surround yourself with positive people and have a positive attitude and I promise you-you will eventually be living your dream to become and RN!!!
  6. I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :monkeydance:

  10. I Am So Nervous I Can't Check Them...... Did Yours Come In Yet Lyn?
  11. MY exam was about 86 questions! the last time I had all of the questions and failed! So I am really unsure---I remember the majority of what was asked and as soon as I got home I looked up the answers and some I got right and some wrong! I just pray that I pass...I have so many people who are counting on me to pass and to disappoint them again I dont know what I will do! The wait is so crazy.....I can't do anything until I know my results..this is so NERVE RACKING!!!!

  14. Anyone working as an RN in the Tampa region please respond. I will be relocating to Tampa in July and after reading about the salary of RN's in Florida I am very disapointed. Is it true that the salary is in the low 20's??? Is that the starting salary for a newly graduated Nurse? That is so low compared to the starting salary of nurses in New York. I know the cost of living in New York is much more---- but the low 20's? The amount of money I paid to obtain my BSN after four years of college and think of how much RN's are paid in Tampa is very sad. Someone please give me some information regarding this. Thank you!!! =-)
  15. I will be graduating from school with my BSN in nursing in May. I will be moving to Florida after that. Any advice on finding a job? How do I go about looking for a job while I still live in New York??? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!
