Scott & White Internship -- June 2011
Congrats to those who have received offers for the ICU internship!!! Excited to be seeing new faces on the unit. :) I started the internship several months back in January. Cooli11 - Turtle Creek is great for the price! I'm looking into moving there myself. Have you looked into Legacy Landing (sister apt to Turtle Creek)? It's new! 1-bdrms start at $630. Lovelymo - You'll SHINE on Friday! Hope to see you then!

TexanSN - Congrats! Which department are you working in?

Scott & White
There's really not much to do here in Temple. It is much, much smaller than Austin! I make the 1-hour trip to Austin once in awhile just to eat and shop. :)

I got a job ICU! New Grad. Need input to review and prepare.
Congratulations on landing a position in the ICU! I have an interview this week, also for an ICU internship. I hope I succeed in the interview, as you did! Have you checked out this website? index I find it to be a great resource.

Scott & White Internship January 2011
Did you ask when you can expect to hear back? I hope he considers us, the last group of interviewees, before making any decisions. Good luck to the both us! :) You mentioned in another S&W thread that you already work there? Your chances are great, much better than mine. Do you reside in or near Temple, TX? I will be coming from California.

Scott & White Internship January 2011
I hope it went well! I have my interview on December 3rd. Not sure what to expect. I got an email yesterday and after reading the first line, I thought they were canceling my interview! Turns out, the director only wants to interview three people at a time, originally it was eight. :/ Any behavioral questions?

BRP RN, I hope it went well!! Now the waiting game begins... It'd be great if we both get chosen! Do you know when in January the program begins? You can email me. :)

SCOTT&WHITE nursing internship
KareBare511 - I know it's been almost 5 months since your last reply to this thread but I hope you get this. Can you share with us your experience in the critical care internship program? I will be interviewing for the program in several weeks. Any interviewing tips would be appreciated! I heard it will be a group interview with the director of ICU. So nervous...

Scott & White
Hi BRP RN, I'm in the same boat! I will be interviewing at Scott & White for the critical care internship. What about you? I'm also coming from outside of Texas. I read that the starting pay for new grads is around $24? But I need to confirm that. I'm so nervous about this interview! Looking for advice from those who have been hired in the past and are currently working at S&W. There hasn't been activity on this thread for nearly a year but it's worth a try. Help, somebody??

Samuel Merritt ABSN - San Mateo June 09
Anyone here going to the New Student Welcome on April 7th? :)

gottagetthere, you can apply to SMU before completing all your prerequisites. I had six outstanding classes when I applied. As long as you have them complete before the start of the program, you'll be fine. I took pathophysiology online at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and I know they offer pharmacology online also. I think I paid less than $100 for 3 semester units. You should definitely look into it. Classes fill up fast! Hope this helps!:wink2:

hi puppie55! I'll be in your class! :) Wow, Sacramento, eh? That's quite a daily commute. I'll be commuting from San Jose, which shouldn't be too bad. There's a Facebook group for SMU ABSN students starting this summer. You should search for "Samuel Merritt ABSN '10" and request to join us.

Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?
Iwant2beRN: Just curious, did you already get an award packet from SMU stating that you don't qualify for any federal loans? SMU sent me a letter notifying me that they didn't receive my FAFSA/Student Aid Report which I filed almost two months ago. So I called the financial aid office to verify and it turns out I shouldn't have received that letter. I also asked when we should be receiving our award letters and the girl said usually 1 month before classes start. How are we to consider federal loans before private loans when they notify us soooo late?!?!

nursesrock08: carpooling sounds excellent. we can plan something out during orientation. :) Did anyone here take a basic life support (BLS) course certified by the AHA? I just want to make sure this course meets their CPR requirement.

I hope you hear more good news from other schools! Your stats are very high! Yeah, we still have a few weeks to decide. Keep us posted. :) Does anyone know when we'll hear back from the school regarding financial aid and which loans we might qualify for? I need to start doing some research for student loans, anyone have tips on where to start?

Samuel Merritt ABSN - San Mateo June 09
Hi Izzy16, Thanks! Stats wise, my GPA for the last 90 quarter units wasn't too hot, I think it was around 3.2. For the prerequisites alone, it was 3.8. On the NET, I got a 91 but I read that they're replacing the NET with the TEAS. Hope this helps and good luck!! :)

Samuel Merritt ABSN - San Mateo June 09
Hi everyone! I got my acceptance letter today for San Mateo. They want us to return the letter of intent by March 28th and there's a mandatory orientation on May 5th. Does anyone know recent graduates from this program and what it has been like for them post-graduation? Yukitiki - Yeah, the lottery at De Anza is insane. Some people wait a whole 2 years before being accepted. Are you planning to attend Samuel Merritt?

Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?
NuRsesRocK08, I had the same priority for my campus selections. Haven't gotten any notifications yet. Checking the mail has been such a scary process during the last two weeks. I hope the letters (or packets, I hope) come soon! Update: Nevermind, after reading that email from Lizzie, I guess we won't know until early March. *sigh*

Congrats to your friend, Iwant2beRN!! Do you know which campus she got accepted into? I read in the other Samuel Merritt forum that several acceptance letters for the San Francisco campus have been received. My first choice was San Mateo so I'm still anxiously waiting for a response! Good luck to you all! :)

Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?
I wouldn't worry yet, I sent mine in on Oct 28th and they haven't cashed my check either. I know they received it the next day because Laura accidentally called me instead of another prospective student regarding their application. Scared me, I thought I was missing something. Good luck to everyone anxiously waiting for a decision! *crosses fingers*

Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?
Hello everyone! I'm also applying to the ABSN program for spring admission. Like StarBelly, I'm struggling with personal statement since I don't have any experience working in the healthcare industry. I hope that doesn't disqualify me from the program. This many seem like a silly question but when they say "1-2 pages" for the writing sample, they mean single-spaced, right? Does anyone know how heavily they consider NET scores in comparison to GPA? I scored pretty high on the NET but my undergrad GPA leaves a lot to be desired... Do they evaluate your most recent 60 semester/90 quarter units (including prereqs) or rather, of your undergraduate studies? GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
