  1. Neither are union. I did not call them ancillary staff. We both rely heavily on each other as both our roles are equally important in our procedures. As is our commitment to be on call and should be the same.
  2. Not sure what area you are located in or what type of facility but in our dept the Rad techs and nurses are both at the high end of $20 per hour. They were the ones always complaining so HR evened out the playing field. Nurses are extremely disrespected at our facility as it is a tech oriented and run dept. they even brag about how much they make so I was just looking to see how other depts differ
  3. No they are not on call for other modalities or dept areas. We are always called in together nurse/tech. I am definitely NOT making anywhere close to 2 x the hourly rate you mentioned either. I fall into the range you gave. So thT is why I'm so confused at why the call pay differs so much.
  4. I work in a very busy IR dept where we are on call a few nights a week and one weekend a month. Nurses work side by side with radiology techs. There is always 1 nurse and 1 tech on call together...however the Radiology Techs get $6 per hr call pay while nurses get $3. Half the pay for being on call for the same procedures in the same dept. Is this the norm for any other IR depts out there and do nurses have the right to fight for the same call pay as rad techs?
  5. it is a step-down unit
  6. I am a new grad RN and have an opportunity for a neurosurgery step-down unit nursing position. I was wondering if anyone who works in that area of nursing can tell me a little of what it is about or what to expect I did not have many rotations on this floor during my education. Thank you for the help in advance and any insight into this field is helpful.
  7. thank you very much...your information definitley put me at ease and congrats on your sucess in the program.
  8. I was wondering if there are any nurses out there that graduated from PIMA medical institute?? I am due to start the program this October at the Albuquerque campus and would like to know what you thought about the program?? I know it doesn't transfer everywhere to get a bsn, but I'm really only interested in getting an ADN anyways. I recentley moved from out of state to live with my parents so that I can complete nursing school. Back home I have been waiting over 2 yrs to get into a nursing program and was working as a full time MA. I am glad they were able to get me in much faster and I believe the high tuition costs will definitley outweigh the weight I've had to encounter, but I want to know if this program is really trustworthy and how other nurses who went there liked it...any info will help greatly....Much Thanks:):)
