What a terrible way to start off the new year
I went into college straight out of HS and got set back 4 years due to difficulty with courses, not being focused, etc. Anyhow, I applied to nursing school 7 times (7 diff schools). I was rejected 7 times (my grades were not good enough) I ended up majoring in community health, applied to 2 more schools and at 23yrs old I finally got a conditional acceptance letter. I then had to take organic chem 2 times (withdrew once) and the lab component 2 times in order to meet the condition and enroll ( set me back 1 year). Finally, in the fall of 2008 I started an accelerated BSN program and finished my 1st semester on the deans list. Believe me I know what it feels like to struggle. Nobody said it would be easy! I always knew nursing was my calling but god tested me time and time again. It's all about how bad do you want it? Are you willing to struggle? Are you willing to have faith? PLUS 23 is NOT old okay! By the time I'm done fulfilling my dream of being an NP I will be 29. YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD! So suck it up and do what you have to do! If that means applying 9,10,11,12, times JUST DO IT! Failure is not an option!

HELP! I got dismissed from my nursing school
STREGA55- my boyfriend is a lawyer (has been for many years) and even he agrees that there is not much legally you can do. In the end it will get you nowhere and you'll have wasted time and money. You have to ask yourself if its really worth trying to get a lawyer to take on the case (not many will) because of various reasons others have already pointed out. In the end, you won't get to finish clinical and their decision was already decided final. What the school did is unprofessional but so is showing up to clinical sleepy and tired. As a student, I know how it feels to know something is wrong even though "the powers to be" say otherwise. You gotta be humble and take it like a champ. At the end of the day, suing them won't get you any closer to graduating or passing NCLEX. So like I said before move on and try to get assignments done earlier so you won't be up late finishing it and you won't have this happen to you again. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you decide to react to it.

HELP! I got dismissed from my nursing school
I haven't read all the previous comments and I'm not sure anybody has mentioned this but- dude what were you doing staying up for a paper? that sounds like procrastination to me. I have clinical in the afternoon and I force myself to have a coke or something to keep me awake and alert if I didn't get enough sleep the night before. Anyways, what is done is done. I don't think you really have legal recourse so I suggest re-applying to another school. If this new school asks you why you did not finish at the previous school tell them you were in disagreement with their clinical policies end of story. For the future, be super nice and amicable to any nurse/tech you are working for/with/under because friendliness goes a long way.
