  1. OP- Are you attending Rivier college, class of 2012 evening program? I'm in it as well and everything you said sounds very familiar...
  2. Hi All, could someone give me an update on the pay rates for CNA/LNA's in the Boston area hospitals? I live in NH and am thinking of commuting down if the pay is worth it. I know for NH the pay is around $11-$13 an hour. I am currently in school for my ADN and will graduate next Spring but hoping to get some experience if able. Thank you!!
  3. I would say if you want it, go for it! I am in the nursing program currently and will be graduating next May. I started my pre-reqs when my son was 8 months old. He is now 3. I also have a 10 month old daughter and I work full time. It is not an option for me not to work or even to cut my hours back. I'm not going to say it's easy, but it's doable as long as you have a good support system. My husband and inlaws are amazing with the help they provide. Good luck to you!
  4. Hi there, I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to take A&P. I am taking classes at both Nashua Community and will be taking some at Rivier for the summer. I want to take A&P I in the Fall and am trying to decide between the 2 schools, as to which may offer the better course. If you could tell me your likes/dislikes for which one you attended? Thanks!
  5. hi there! i will be taking the nln in february and i'll have just finished up both chemistry and algebra by then so hopefully those will be a big help to me on the exam. i will be taking 2 classes at nashua tech for the spring - a&pi and english comp because i don't believe rivier offers those classes in the spring? now i'm slightly disappointed though hearing how much you all are liking the a&p teacher you have!! how has it been for you so far juggling school with the little one? jw1724~ i didn't know they offered the clinicals on weekends? i think they had told me 3pm-11pm on tuesdays and thursday nights? funny i am thinking the the maternity/labor and delivery may be where i want to be! is there anything in particular that you are seeing that makes you not care for it as much?
  6. Too funny! We have a lot of similarities! :) So how brutal was the NLN exam? I purchased the book everyone recommends the review guide and I am working my way through it, the math part is a little slow, math was never my strong suit! So how is A&P I? I hear that can be difficult, I am so excited to get to the point to take the "real" classes that will start me on my way. So you will have completed all of the pre-reqs by Fall of '09? The lady I met with told me by starting now and finishing all of the pre-req's it would take me right up until Spring of 2010 and then start the nursing portion of the program in Fall '10.... Are you from this area? Too bad we weren't in the same classes that would be fun!
  7. hey everyone! i am about to start my pre-req for nursing school and of course i am starting to try and imagine life in nursing. i'm wondering what sort of jobs you are able to do prior to graduating nursing school in the hospital? i am not able to work part-time so i'm just trying to figure out my options. also the hospitals i am interested in are elliot hospital and catholic medical center both in manchester. does anyone have experience working at either of these? do they hire right from school? what are the normal pay rates for rn? (associate degree) thank you!
  8. hi there! i am hoping to get accepted into the fall 2010 program at rivier, also in the evening division. i had to start (unfortunately) with taking high school level algebra and chemistry and then i will take the nln exam in february and start the other pre-req in january. i will only be taking 2 classes a semester due to working ft and having an 8 month old. did you already take and pass the nln?
