Thanks very much Kris. Actually they were first on my list when I was looking for a job. The only thing is they really gave me the runaround when I was trying to schedule an interview. Really soured me to the whole thing. Still, I have only heard good things about the hospital. Going to have to look into it more closely. Thanks!

As a new graduate who studied in Europe and moved back to NYC I applied at quite a number of hospitals. The first one that offered me a job was Lenox Hill in Manhattan. Now I think it's okay over there. Not bad really, but living in Northern Queens the commute is getting to me. I really like the flex time schedule (11.5 hour nights 3 times a week) and the patient ratios are pretty good when they are enforced (8:1 on a med-surg floor) and the salary is not bad (I make 62,000 plus 1,200 BsN differential and 4800 night differential). Truly what I would like is a similar deal somewhere more convenient. I am hoping that some of you work in a hospital in Queens or Long Island and know if the salary/hours/ratios are similar. At this point I would take a small paycut just for the relief of not having to hump it into the city every night I work. Hospitals I would be interested in: Flushing Hospital, NYH of Queens, Mt. Sinai of Queens, North Shore of Queens, North Shore of Manhasset, Long Island Jewish, St Johns on Queens Blvd. If anyone has some info on any of these please post or email. Thanks alot!

Of course it is hard to say with any level of certainty, but I would GUESS that you did pass. Try and remember the question before that and the one before that. If you answered your last 3 or so in a row correctly it would be nearly impossible for you to have failed.

Myth, but with an interesting twist. If your test ends at the minimum amount of questions and you get the last one right it will not mean anything. You may be well under the passing competency after all. However, the further along you go the better the chances get. You are hovering near the passing or failing line when the test keeps going, therefore getting a question right or wrong might push you above or below the limit. Statistically you cab say that above the passing minimum you have a better chance of passing if you answered the last question correctly.

Okay, so how was it AmyNurse03? Mine was interesting. I don't even want to make a guess as to whether I passed or not. Some things I knew, others I did not. I had lots of priority questions, lots of calculations, some new format questions. I worry a bit because the calculations were extremely easy (although they were all new format). It took 78 questions, I was in and out of there before I knew what hit me. Still, I have a feeling I may have gotten the last 3 questions right. I figure if I was borderline so it kept going after 75, then it can only be a good sign. I'll know for sure on Thursday. I have my fingers crossed for myself and for you.

Okay, I understand that NCLEX uses adaptive testing and thus everyone is supposed to get 50% right. Those who are above a certain competency level pass and those who are under don't. The thing is you can theoretically be well above 50% by the minimum of 75 questions. Basically I am trying to see if anyone knows roughly how many of the first 75 questions someone would have to answer correctly to pass at 75. I know this will fluctuate slightly, but I'm curious. Right now I am getting between 50% and 75% correct on every Kaplan test. Assuming these question are similar to NCLEX questions I am wondering if my competency is enough to pass, or if I should delay taking my nclex until I can score much higher on my practice exams. During my application I contacted Savonia Thorne and she put me in contact with Matthew Keiner (the head of the credentials verification department). After all the negatives I had heard about customer service and the like through CGFNS I was very pleased to note how quick, friendly and effecient they were at helping. Thought I would just add that note of hope to this thread.

Trying to avoid sending a private message since the info given to me may help other people. I am an American who received his nursing education in Finland and is trying to get the ATT for the NCLEX in New York. Problem is the process is taking longer than I expected and I am trying to speed it up. I took more than a month for CGFNS to send me a letter to say they received all the documents I sent them. I don't understand why they mail correspondence from the Phillipines if they are based in the United States. They have received information from the liscencing agency in Finland but not from my nursing school. Of course there is no way for me to know if they even sent the info to the right address. The name of the school I see from the CGFNS website is not exactly the proper name. Wondering if I should call them to verify the address. Following that I know they will submit all the paperwork to New York State, however with how long correspondence has taken to reach me, I wonder how long that will take. If I have been reading these posts correctly it seems that NYS will take a further 4-6 months to process my paperwork and issue me the ATT just to take the NYCLEX. I am pretty sure I willpass that though I'm not sure how often the test is offered. Basically it seems this whole process can take about a year? I wonder if anyone has had any experience at trying to speed things up in any way? I would be glad to call and explain my situation to anyone, it's just so frustrating to keep waiting!

Well I graduated in May from a Polytechnic with a Bachelors in Nursing and right now am going through all the lengthy paperwork that will allow me to work in the US as a nurse. I will let you know how easy it is after all is said and done.

Ouch. So if I am reading this correctly it means that aside from waiting months for CGFNS to collect all the information necessary for my NYS application as an RN it will then take NYS a FURTHER 2-4 months to issue me the ATT after they receive all the information from CGFNS? Please tell me there may be some way to speed up that process!
