Getting a C in Nursing
Have you applied anywhere as a new grad lately? Your gpa will matter when it's down to you and another 'RN' new grad with no other discernible differences.

Reccomend a gender neutral title to replace "Nurse"!
Human blame dump sounds appropriate to me - it's even gender neutral! Also, I'm a male nurse that likes being a 'nurse.' Not Murse, or whatever other cutesy degrading thing people think is cute/funny, but nurse is fine.

The War On Fat
We need an emoticon for beating a dead horse. Didn't we literally just have a thread up about this like two weeks ago? Is it a means of gaining notoriety by starting hot button topics? There's no harm in discussing things, but they start to give me the feeling I get seeing tabloid magazines at the check-out with their redundancy.

Reserve or Guard Nurse but NOT a nurse full-time
So what you're saying is - You want to be a military nursing officer, you don't want to be a nurse, you want to stay a police officer, you want the military to help foot the bill toward a psych NP (at least this is implied if not stated outright). As a veteran, alot of this rubs me wrong.

Camp Pendleton
Long drives...yuck :) But of course, being at any of the Big 3, I can't imagine it's much better to be honest. Any info on OR, psych opportunities? I'm ok with anything really, but if I they offer...

Moving to California - looking at schools
Hello, My wife and I are moving to Camp Pendleton and I was hoping someone could point us in the right direction for schools. I'm a nurse, however she is going to go back to school to become a pharmacist - she's recently looked at transferring to local schools such as UC San Diego and CSU, however it seems as though the schools 'fill up' quickly (She can't even apply for the Fall semester at UC since they aren't taking any more applicants). I was just wondering, does anyone have any school suggestions for reputable schools in the area that I may not have listed? Where we're from, getting into school isn't all that difficult, so this is new to us. My wife has a bachelor's degree, and we're going to need to have her take about 4 semesters of chemistry and physics - any suggestions? Quality of education is important, we are not interested in going to for-profits of any form. Thank you for your help!

I don't have enough posts to PM as of yet - but i'll be in the June or July ODS group. Are you a new grad as well? I was wondering, with Camp Pendleton being a smaller hospital, whether there is as much 'range' for specialty selection.

Camp Pendleton
Hello, Newish NCP'r here, headed to Camp Pendleton and was wondering if anyone could give me the skinny on the base/hospital/life in the area. The website for the hospital/nurses is limited in what it shares, so anyone with first hand experience would be just the ticket. I'm particularly interested in finding out about specialty selection (as in, do we have selections, and if so - what?) - I have about 6 months prior cardiac experience civilian side and nearly a decade of enlisted military time. Finally got a dream sheet base - wasn't sure that was possible! :) Looking forward to sand between my toes :)
